new guy need some answers!
hey, so i currently have a 07 mustang gt regency 5 speed, i wanna get rid of it and get into something better on gas but still pretty quick,
ive always been a fan of the cobalt ss's here are some of my questions
1. what kind of rwhp can i expect from this car (supercharged) if i do full exhaust, cai, tune, bigger pulley,& on 93 oct lets say ( im looking to get one to like 330-360 rwhp) if not how would i go about doing that? i have big background in v8s and high horsepower cars mostly FI, has anyone ever put a cobalt ss back to stock and then thrown on a vortech or pro charger centrifugal unit to the side? is it more effcent and creates more power then the m62?
2. am i chasing rwhp numbers that just wont come, or wont come with out over 10 grand in mods?
3. ive heard shakey things about the supercharged versions is any of it true that they are unreliable and you should stick with the turbo'd ones?
thanks please bare with me im new to anything thats not american muscle and anything without a huge v8 in it

a turbo cobalt will make more power a lot cheaper and more reliably than a 4.6 mustang.
4.6 stangs need a lot of mods to keep up with a basic bolt on ss/tc. then all youd need to do is add e85 and youre ahead again. lol

Just picked up my 09 TC Sedan on friday, traded in my 06 SS SC for it. This car is a way better deal, and the performance difference is crazy. I am getting way better gas mileage with the TC. For example, the other day i was just cruising in 5th at 60mph with ac on getting 34mpg. That was impossible with my SC. lol
the lsj and lnf will both handle good power. it really comes down to how much your willing to spend on car payments vs how much your willing to spend in mods.
you could get an lnf for $15k and with basic bolt ons and a tune be at your goals with around 500$-1000
or you can get an lsj for $10k and see those goals with a turbo swap at $5kish
apples to apples, the newer car would be more worthwhile to me, but i have an lsj lol
op ran away when he found out it was a fwd i bet

OP, fut the wuck are your talking about?
Balt is FWD...If you want a no fuss/fast car/good mileage then get an LNF...and just a tune will enlighten you to what 2.0l can do. A few bolt ons and mid 350whp no problem. I was beating my Solstice GXP(gmpp 290/340crank) on county roads this weekend and still averaged 32mpg/400miles.

haha yah it is a little different, but i'm coming from a stock SC, only had 3'' ZZP intake to a almost fully bolted TC. So i feel no loss in my deal. haha but yah when that boost hits its like magic! lmao Plus the blow off valve is a show stopper! haha
Looks like you bought Warner's old car. that thing has a new engine too lol
My friend has an '05 Mustang with the 4.6 (actually he is now 4.9 stroked) and he has big cams and nitrous. He's put a lot of money into his car.
Now I've just got an Intake, ZZP 3" downpipe, and a 23psi tune in my SS/TC. I have just over 300 whp/340wtq.
I can beat him without the Nitrous. (He claims I'm faster without the nitrous, but it's pretty damn close).
The bottom line is, I spent less than $1000 to get another ~40 hp/~80 tq. The gains per dollar go up from there, but even still, I can see myself getting 400+ whp pretty easily out of this car.
SS/TC all the way.
