question about changing out motor
Actually thats not true.
The LS2 WILL fit. I doubt about the motor he's reffering too will though.
Yes, I have personally seen a ION with a Corvette motor in it, and there is roughly the same setup with minor differences.
All you'd need is well..alot of money.
The Motor
The Wiring Harness
if your going to convert to RWD: Rear Axles / Tranny / Fabricating the exhaust tunnel to house the driveshaft + custom exhaust.
If your going to stay FWD: Finding a tranny that will support the power, then making a conversion plate.
Its really not going to be worth it. Yes, it'll be cool for the 'wow' factor & sound. but thats about it.
Even if you had the motor / tranny. you still need to buy the rear axles, fabricate up an exhaust, plus modify the exhaust tunnel (aka ******* with your cars structural integrity), fabricating up motor mounts, then the conversion plate if you choose, the wiring harness + install of the wiring harness.
Your looking at an easy $10,000.
When you can buy a Turbo kit for around $4,000. Have a shop install it for $600-1000. Buy a larger turbo, and push well over 400-500whp.

it would be EXTREMELY involved. this is not the type of thing for a backyard mechanic. You need alot of experience to get something like this right. Unless you have access to a lift and a full shop of tools you will not be doing this swap within the next 5 years. I wouldn't even consider it unless you are a shop owner or have tons of cash to just throw away. Ask victory red, i'd be willing to bet he has spent triple what he expected to spend and that project has been underway for what...2 years now?

Then again Kugel Komponents make a premade kit for the focus to do a V8 swap in it. May be worth sending them an email to see if they could help.
Here is a link to there website.

If you have nothing to contribute to this thread, not bother reading it. Then again I really don’t care what you do, since you have joined this site you have had not done anything to positively add to it.

DO IT!! be og man. everyone is doing turbo or supercharger, and you would be the first to have this done. just get a vette drivetrain and you could make it work with some fitting. dude if a civic hatch can do it you can.
If you do decide to attempt this swap..Ill buy your 2.4 and put on a moped!!!
