I'll have a few grand saved up, some parts to sell (others will be carried over to the SS/TC), and a trade in with equity. If the rumors are not true I will have some money to dump into the SS/SC, if I don't get a SS/TC anyways.
UPDATE:

According to another thread Upgrades from GM coming soon

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l-lnf-performance-tech-153/upgrade-gm-coming-soon-134001/

It's indicated on there that the "290hp" level is just for the auto on the HHR SS. For the manual it's "315hp" according to some people on there. Can't say for sure what's positive yet hopefully, there will be some info released @ SEMA this November. So either that info in the rumor I was told is going off the wrong numbers (again he never said 290, he said "around 300") so I made the assumption of maybe 290... So we'll see...

You probably won't have to wait either for the 2010MY SS/TC, either... I mean you can if you want but I'm sure more info will get leaked and if it is true we'll probably hear more about it coming up in the next 2-8 months seeing that the 2010MY SS/TC's will be rolling out of Lordstown coming in July of 09.

Any other info I find I'll update on here or most likely the other thread.

.
It confusing they would develope a stage kit for the auto HHR. The AUTO HHR is detuned compared to the automatic. Why? I would assume the automatic can't handle the power for 100,000 miles.
Why can't you get a cobalt Turbo in an automatic but you can get it in the HHR?

I think that GM assumed that they would get larger buyer base with the HHR SS vs the Cobalt SS seeing that the HHR is a little more practical in terms of a sporty hatch, maybe not... But yeah the auto in the HHR produces like 240hp vs the 260 in the manual simply because the auto tranny can't handle the torque and the power, but the manual can. And I think it was a good idea that they are offering a stage kit for both the auto and manual so that all the auto drivers can still get in on it.

And let's face it I'm sure there's more auto HHR SS's out there vs manual HHR SS's...

I remember a gm employee being quoted in a article say nthere wont be more then 2 stage kits because the tranny is reaching its limit at 320hp...

I've heard the 315bhp rumor before too. But, 290 seemed more like the magic number. Also, people can get an auto trans SS/TC, if they don't mind 2 extra doors. Auto trans = sedan only.

Look no further!

About 4 months ago I did a Stage 2 SC vs. Stock SS/T dyno test:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l-lnf-performance-tech-153/images-video-todays-stage-2-sc-vs-ss-t-dyno-face-off-56k-think-again-118151/

Results were:
Stage 2 SC: 227whp/203ft lbs
SS/T: 237whp/258 ft lbs
