How many hours for engine rebuild

I know someone on here has to have experience with engine rebuilds and how much shops charge.

So, question is, who much (or how many hours labor) is it for a piston/rod replacement?

I'm buying parts myself, just wanted to know if anyone has had their engine professionally built before.

I would assume I would also need a slight bore for forged pistons, what do you think.

I have most of the tools, the only thing I wouldn't have is the tool for the cams that holds your timing in place.

But as far as torque wrenchs and such, I wouldn't need a whole lot.

I wouldn't mind paying 800 for the install if it was a credible shop and it included a honing.

If they knew what they were doing...could do a simple rebuild in about 8-10 hours. so, assuming 10 hours, $60 an hour...$600 in labor.

Considering GM time on pistons/rings/rods is 10.2 for the L61, youd be hard pressed to find a tech you werent friends with to do it for less than 14, and thats being very generous. "Book" time is over 20 hours.
