No time for videos, I'm out of town for work.

Racing this weekend, hopefully someone will grab some vids.

sad face.

Newt if you ever want to get a better intake give me your cam specs and I can tell you the runner length you should run and maybe cad up a design for you... And if I ever get my dad to buy a damn tig welder I could ever make it, though I'm sure Mike at AMM FAB would be a much better job than me.

There are people that have dyno'd higher than 215whp all-motor on the LE5 intake manifold. Why do you say it can't support 215whp??

Weekend track updates:

Only made 2 1/4 mile passes (after which it rained and then they where only running 1/8 mile due to water bubbling up through the asphalt at the far end of the track).

Best run of the two was my first pass:

60' - 2.0
1/8 - 8.89
MPH - 80
1/4 - 13.77
MPH - 98

My other run I had some bad wheel hop out of the hole so I let out of it and ran a 14.0@101.

Not really what I was expecting, but for my first pass down the track with the new motor and tires it wasn't to bad.

Made another dozen or so 1/8 passes with my best one being:

60' - 1.865
1/8 - 8.709
MPH - 81

That pass would of been good for probably a ~13.5 or so in the 1/4, which still isn't great...but an improvement.

Tires where hooking up awesome, tire pressure was at 12psi and launching at 5000rpm. Next weekend I'm going to drop the tires to 10psi and try launching it from 6000rpm....probabaly shave a bit more off my 60' (even tho I'm very happy with a 1.86)

Some of the imediate issues I need to work on:

I was shifting the car at 7000rpm, which from what I can tell is too low for this set-up, going to try shifting at 7500rpm next weekend and see how that fairs out. Might even go a tad higher if the bottom end doesn't grenade at 7500 first...lol

Next up, something is @!#$ up in my tune, my AFR gets richer as I run through every gear for some reason. 1st and 2nd gear pull like a freight train and then 3rd and 4th felt very sluggish.....oldskool - hopefully you have some insight into this (check your PM's).

All in all I am pretty happy how it faired out the first time out, I am alittle concerned with how low my MPH is, but it wasn't the best track day (damp and humid). My buddy Paul K who ussually traps ~100mph was only trapping 94-95mph....so I'm not freaking out just yet. Plus with the traction I'm getting off the line you can expect the trap speeds to be a little low.

Anyways, thats all I have for now...hopefully get those bits sorted out for next weekend and hope for some better weather.

Hopefully it gets even faster next weekend....I'm obviously shooting for a 12.999 but I'll settle this year for a 13.1 - 13.2.

I'm not done yet

Who ? Have you seen a dyno print ?
I doubt it is possible as the LE5 does not flow that well and is in fact creating a tiny bit of vacuum after 6500 rpm on a 2.2 engine (at least with a LE5 TB)

I might be wrong as your added displacement may help more than I think... I'll be happy to be wrong in fact

This guy made 232whp on the LE5 intake manifold:
Cobalt SS Network - View Profile: o3nisoaso3

My set-up shows only a 1kpa of vaccuum at 7000rpm, thats with a LE5 manifold, port matched to my larger intake ports and a 62.5mm TB. Some pulls it actually shows no pressure differance at all.

What proof do you have of this?

I'm on a standalone ECU, have quite a lot of high freq logs of that

Red is throttle pos, blue is MAP pressure
of course y is value and x is RPM

Question is, where is the map on that manifold? In the plenum? If so theoretically the more vacuum you see the stronger the resonating effect in the runner, or the more you are outflowing your throttle body.

A tuned resonance will in fact give you a slightly higher pressure than baro one (on a stock N/A Eco, you get around 1130 mbar at the highest torque point, but the stock MAP sensor cannot see it of course), you know it as the RAM air effect in the US I think

I'm still trying to think about the physics. I may need to find one of the logs of the racecar because I know we tuned the runners for 9k rpms but figuring it out is going to suck because the haltech log viewer sucks so hard.

This is nice, but it isn't proof that the LE5 manifold cannot flow enough air to make 215whp.

Also just ordered this...

2pc Rear Bumper Diffuser

Trying to sort out my top end sluggishness, figured this wouldn't hurt.

Some people say they work, some don't...hell if it gets me even half a tenth I'll be happy...every little bit helps.

So much for the "sleeper" look...lol

OMR!

Cancel that order. Just make a belly pan that keeps the air out of the rear bumper.

OMR ? I've fallen behind on the internet lingo I guess.

I'm sure you've seen under a j-body rear end? the rear trailing arm makes making a pan to close it out nearly impossible...no matter what the majority of the rear bumper will still trap air.

Oh My Rice. You can do it, pretty easy. It just goes under the trailing arm like its supposed to.
