Ported head
Will the cnc ported head from CED work on the LSJ?

Also, i'm looking in to getting performance cams, intake and exhaust valves, and higher rpm springs and retainers. anyone have any good links? can't find any on the vendors' sites.
nvm, scratch that on the cams, found them on CED, but i still need valves, springs, and retainers.

no that is for the 2.2l. They do make a lsj head for 1200 though. I would honestly buy a spare and get it ported. The cams will not work because they dont have a hex for the cam sensor.
The gain you'll see from cams VS. the cost to run them IMO is NOT worth it AT ALL! Do all the bolt on you can and if you want a port job I'd recomend gasket matching the intake and exhaust posts as that makes for the largest gains while not going totaly crazy! Don't forget the law of diminshing returns, basicly you can only spend so much on mods that you reach a point where its just not worth the cost anymore.
u can either buy one from jbp or buy a spare head from ebay and send it to a local shop to get ported..and cams is all on u..the only real cams for our car is the jbp cams but people have got hks 272 regrinds on blanks or stock cams and ran those...i dont recommend it
so. some people think cams are fail in these cars?
newp!
once the lash adjusters quiet down, the low end comes back, sort of. there is a tradeoff with everything you do. remember that. my car has retarded top end pull now above 5k. everytime i drive a stock cammed lsj i find myself waiting for the power. well it's not there. even on a couple cars with my kill tunes in them. i slam into the rev limiter. the 272's flatten the torque curve out, and carries the peak hp over a broader range.

i daily drive my car. it drives no different that a stock car does. i have hidden a lot of the cam noise at idle. keeps people away from me.
cam. amazing things happen when valve lift is over .400. my egt's are fine.

The difference between .300" lift and .400" lift on the exhaust side, is literally 1 cfm more flow. .300" lift = 158 cfm, .400" lift = 159 cfm.
And for that 1 CFM how much did it cost you? Thats why I said not worth it IMO. The amount of cash your gonna plop down to pick up a couple horses just is not worth it, unless your going for that last 2 extra HP that will net you that last .02 in a 1/4 mile.
