I have had mine for a good 6 to 7 months with LOTS of highway driving, and not one single problem with them at all.

Hmm, those eyelids look familiar. :P

This is a good thread. I'm rather HID ignorant, so this is really informative.

Anyone with the 2nd gen CCFL projectors have the link to their exact kit they bought? What sizes should be bought to put in the second gen healdights, and what size should be put in the fog lights as well?

Well from what I have been reading a lot of the other members have been seeing issues a lot earlier, such as LED issues or the lens peeling. I have easily put over a years worth of driving on the car in the 7 months I have had them on the car. So it looks like so far I have a good set going!

And not trying to sound like an ass..........but we have to remember these are probably mass produced for a very low price somewhere. They are nowhere near top of the line quality.....but for the price they are very good quality.

By sizes I am assuming you mean what type of bulbs. This is for the 2nd Gens:

Lows - H7
Highs - H1
Fogs - H11

If I had the link I would send it to you, but I don't....sorry. I did get them off ebay though.

Ah so you have to get 3 HID kits for the 3 sets. Makes sense. All 8K's right?

What company did you buy your HIDs from?

Thanks a whole **** load bro.

I dont have HID's in mine, but you are correct in that you would have to buy three different sets of HID's.

And I would highly recommend going with an HID kit that is 6500K or lower. Higher then that and you start to lose how much light you have out in front of the car at night.

Here's a link to the HID system that I bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Xenon...spagenameZWDVW

I got the 8000k color. If you want the HID look for all three sets, then yes, you would have to but 3 separate HID systems. If you want the link to the 2 gen. projector/halos that we're talking about, let me know and I'll post that too.

i didnt quite trust ebay with HID kits so i ordered mine off vvme.com. It is a company in china but the shipping takes litterally three days. and they are ~75$ for color ranges up to 10000 ,(single beam kits).

You can get 8000k and be safe....anything above that is going to be pointless....just don't go past that.

I got 8000k and they were $70 on the button...from eBay haha. What made you go with 10000k?

Bump.

By that I mean you won't be able to see very much in the road ahead of you. The higher you go up the Kelvin scale, the more purple the light becomes and the smaller the output level becomes. Think of it this way...a regular stock bulb at 4300k...you can see a whole bunch. Then you move up a little more to 8000k and the light is more blue...more along the lines of the new Corvettes and Acuras. You can still see with them, your light just looks better. Now think of a black light...they look cool and everything...but would you ever want to use one as a headlight? Black lights are probably over 30000k. Some HID systems go to 10000k and even 12000k...but I don't know how safe they would be because you wouldn't be able to see much on the road. Make sense?

I was thinking to myself early, "Who would ever want purple headlights?" Sure, it would be ok for a show car or whatever, but to drive at night? Well, tonight...I actually saw someone with purple headlights...and guess what?!?!?! It was a Honda...hahahaha...go figure!

I've had my first gen projectors for over a year now, about 1.5 years and the lenses are peeling like a ****. The inside chrome housing is cracking and looking charred from the turn signals. I'm currently running a 10000k HID kit from 3b, and that makes up for most of the short comings of the projectors. Luckily all my halos and leds still work.

That is not 100% correct... 5000K is the color of the factory BMW lamps and it is the brightest, 4300 and down are actually not as bright as the lower wavelengths starts to turn the light yellow...

I believe that because BMW lights are super bright, and have a very white light with a hint of blue to them.
