Did anyone buy the $699 Paint Sealant Protector at the dealer?

Some of the Paint Protection Systems are very good but unfortunately for most motor dealers, these schemes are about profit not protection. The prep work carried out beforehand is paramount. Valeting staff in many dealerships are just not up to the job. They are not experienced / skilled enough, to be using machine polishers, nor do they know the best application methods (to avoid swirls / micro-marring etc). Add low quality wash mitts, poor washing techniques, cheap microfibre, time constraints etc to the mix and you get poor overall results.

If done properly however by a craftsman / pro detailer, Full Strength Sealants like A-Glaze Plus, AutoGlym LifeShine etc. will deliver long term protection. They will protect for many years unlike off the shelf products, it's just that they are not ultra low maintenance solutions, as dealer packages always seem to suggest.

You should not pay more than $50 if you even HAVE to pay for it. My truck came with it already installed but I made them take the $599 charge off because that is just absolutely ridiculous. And quite frankly it's an insult to people like me who are passionate about helping others keep their vehicles appearance in top shape for less than half of that cost.

My dealer offered both a paint/interior package, and a rustproofing treatment and had them both together at a special price but I declined. Particularly the rustproofing; my dad got it on his Impala and its nasty - a sticky, spray-on stuff that attracts dirt and makes working on the car unpleasant. Its even all over the wiring harness wrap and everything.

I got the paint protection thrown in for free.. Its garbage.. Didnt last very long at all.. TOTALLY not worth what they are charging.. Your WAY better off to get it professionally detailed, as it is so much cheaper, and the person working on your car actually gives a **** about what hes doing.

At my dealership that I work for, its called the Century Package. I was thinking about getting it for MY car (the paint undersealent, and paint protector).

Just to clear up some confusion.
1. it does NOT VOID ANY warranties.

2. it is CRAP. I talked to the guy who actualy does it.

So. Its really not worth it.

Even if its crap they still back it for 125,000 miles. I'm only going to put 5,000 miles on it a year. So if it doesn't hold up they are going to be fixing rust or any other stain I see fit. Thats worth it to me. The only way I see not getting it if you're leasing the car.

Yep, the guy who does it demonstrated how they do it for me. They only spray it on and wipe it off. He did say it was crap and would not recommend it right in front of the sales chick.

The ONLY reason I wanted it was because of the interior protection. I figured it would be harder for dirt and grime to get in my seats and floor carpet. Anyone know where I can buy a similar interior stuff to make the spills bead?
