Emblem Paint

I know there's probably a million threads about this, but what's the best way to paint both the front and rear emblems? I'd like to leave them on the car and just mask the HECK out of them... also I have two cans of Krylon Fusion Black Satin spray paint that I used for the trim on the inside of my car, would that work for the emblems? Should I clear coat them after I paint them or no?

Just take them off, it's easier to not mask, and the front is only held on by 2 bolts anyways. That would work on the emblems, I would clear them since they're on the exterior to protect them.

Isn't the rear emblem a pain in the butt to take off? Sense i'd have to heat it to remove it, and then go buy 3M adhesive tape to put it back on?

ya but it's not really that hard, took me like 5 min to remove it. Just get a heat source (hairdryer works) and use a plastic kitchen spatula. Wouldn't take much longer to put it back on. Better than risking overspray.

i found the front one is best to prime, paint, and clear coat, do the whole thing front and back or the paint will come off, i did it 3 times so i know. lol paint also came off without clear coat. and make sure u sand it to scuff it up good before u pain so the pain sticks to it good.

I honestly just took my back one off. It was too large and looks cleaner without it.

As for the front. I masked off the chrome and the rest of the front bumper (my bolts were stripped) (use a good blue or green painters tape)

Take a scotch bright pad and roughed up the gold center.

Clean it good (used acrosolve)

Then spray it with a good primer (any good spray bomb can will do)

Then spray it with the color you want (I used GM touch up paint in a spray bomb can)

Then spray it with a good quality clear (any good spray bomb will do)

Then let it dry and use some 2500-3000 wet sand paper make sure its wet. you dont need to rub hard and be careful around any points as thats where the paint will be the thinnest.

Wipe it clean and take some paint polish and wax to it.

your done and it looks like it shouldve came that way from the factory!
Heres how mine came out

You can have them made at a local sign shop or vinyl place....or do some google/ebay searching.
