G2 Caliper paint for the yellow balt
G2 Caliper paint for the yellow balt
So I want to paint my yellow cobalt's calipers yellow and was thinking of using G2 caliper paint (because duplicolor I heard has school bus yellow) and wanted to know if anyone uses this and whether or not they like it? Also is there's another yet better brand out there as well? Here's the link to the product...

i used the blue on my black '08 sport
love it. about 2 hours to do everything, only downside is 24 hour cure time.
ie...don't drive the car at all for 24 hours while it dries\cures...can't even put wheels back on for 2-4 hours.
but it's durable as hell, and has a nice gloss...vivid color. just invest in a good wire brush for cleaning the caliper before you start...the better you clean them first, the better the G2 will stick\protect\last.

i did all 4 same time...2 coats on each.
spray it with a garden hose, cleans right off. wheel cleaner seems to have no dulling\stripping effect on it either.
i did mine almost as soon as I got the car...still looks like I just did it yesterday.

more than enough, it's enough to do drums.
i had about 2/5 of the can left over...it's no good though, once you add the activator, the paint is only viable for about 4 hours...it has a hardening additive to increase durability\heat resistance (900 Degrees F)
so you need to do all 4 at the same time.

How long did it take you to do all 4? Cause I'm wondering if I should get a friend to help.
Sorry about the 21 questions lol but it is helpful
1 other thing, where did you get yours from? Cause I'm looking for the best price lol.

i ordered mine online...forget where, might have been tirerack.com or ebay, or another site...
just google G2 Caliper paint...got mine for $34 shipped.
it took me, from start to finish, maybe 2 hours...and I was REAL **** about the cleaning of the calipers, and also the application of my first coat. the second\third coats are just for evening out the color and improving durability...second coat went much faster
also note that it's entirely normal for the first coat to "bubble" a little. that's the hardening activator at work. the second coat will make it disappear.
the kit comes with brake cleaner, a mixing stick, applicator brush, a jar of activator and a small can of paint. you can get a good wire brush for about $1.89 from autozone or whatever for cleaning. make sure the calipers\wheels are cool to the touch before starting...if not, let the car sit to cool, or rinse with cool water before cleaning
and like I said before, the cleaner the better before painting. take your time applying even coats. the paint is pretty thick, so it's not likely to run at all (brush-on), but don't goop it on...as with any paint, thinner coats are better coats. i would have done a 3rd coat with my leftover paint, but I would've been late for work.
