Never usin Duplicolor Ever again!
A little update to this post:
I have a gauge cluster bezel I'm doing up for my 80 Z28. The plastic will be gloss black, the center aluminum overlay will be metallic gunmetal, while the bezels will be plastidip black.
First off - a complete sand/wipe down with cleaner followed by some Krylon plastic primer - no problem. First spray with the Rustoleum gunmetal color - no problems spraying, but the coverage sucked. I ended up sanding it down and going with the stuff straight over the aluminum after a 200 grit treatment. Fine.
The black plastic was done with gloss Krylon (over the primer) - it sucked worse.
I'm beginning to think that the years of Armor-all are still bleeding through every pore on this bitch, despite all the cleaning!
I actually did a Valspar white gloss, and it worked great on some aluminum, and on a custom made vent diverter. The tips are totally suspect, though.

I used the sandable primer before,(on my VC & pipes actually lol) no problems, used their shadow paint, barely any problems(were on my rims, still is on my headlights) used their touch up paint, etc.. It seems like the clear is always the problem tho
