if a cage is built the way its suppose to then it shouldnt crush what so ever....then again that is if that was a complete weld in cage. hense also why i have a 25.5 cage in the camaro. also for the fact that it stiffens the chassis. understanding that i am running a car that fast the cage is needed, and when i use to drive the camaro daily(smaller motor setup) i use to have a 10point in it anyways. now driving my street car around its kinda wierd without the cage being there and i feel somewhat unsafe. being the fact i work in a body shop i see how cars get hit. for instants my sisters 2009 eclipse totaled with 2200 miles on it and caused 25000 in damage to the car. not one air bag went off and the side that got hit pretty much crused the passenger door all the way to the drivers side. understably your not going to cage a 2009 eclipse but its just one thing that would give a little more protection rather then just the crappy door bars inside the door. fact of the matter is a well built and well installed rollcage with a good set of harness' and roll bar padding is the safest route to me atleast. also a well built cage is perfect for stiffening the chassis.

so if you manage to live through an accident with that...what happens if another driver gets killed because of solid steel brackets going right through their car?

i wouldnt be so sure "it wont move" either. I'll just assume youve never seen a car with a roll cage after an accident. Ive seen some damn solid short track racing cages get destroyed in accidents. also note that these are designed to support the entire car, so the drivers area was fine...but the backend or frontend supports were nothing to collapse inward a good 2ft if there is a wall hit, and those frames were built alot more solid and with alot more cross bracing and support than that thing.

you really should consult proper design or take it the hell out. even if its made properly for yourself, it can be damn dangerous to other drivers...

I like the headliner, but other than that, I think you wasted your time/money.

I too am gonna go out and say that its not safe. Obviously its not safe as a roll cage but its not safe to have that mess of steel tubing(1" schedule 40 pipe?) bolted in behind you like that, is it seriously held in by what looks like an 8mm bolt to the seat latch mounting point?

I know, I read, thats why i didnt mention anything about how unsafe it is as a cage/bar. My comment was simply that I feel that having that "show bar" installed the way he does is unsafe, regardless of what its designed for. At the VERY least it should be padded.

not good. If your going to do something why not just do it right? You could have gotten a real cage that could pass a tech inspection and it could have been the "visual" mod you were going for.
