Yeah the bad thing about Plasti dip is it scratches so easy. I did my interior pieces and you have to be careful. GF already put a couple marks in by mistake.

Glossifier definitely toughens it up a bit. I dont think you can have too many coats lol. I usually do 5. Im hoping to get 4-5 coats over the whole car plus 1-2 of gloss.

Any one see the elstiwrap? Not sure if its new but first time I seen it. Lays flat and smooth, a lot more glossy. And peels pretty good, little harder then plasti dip. Also goes on the same way.

Yeah, it does. You can dig into it with your nail by accident even.

PUT ON MORE COATS!!!

but really, it's the most succeptible to scratches in the first week or two after you srpay it while it's curing. Then after that it's more durable. after all, it was designed to insulate tool handles that see a lot of abuse in day to day use.

And more coats DO HELP.

Though my balt is now gone, I still used a bit o dip on the new gti. I like the front grille and the rear badge, I used paint clear to make them shiny and a bit more durable.

But the wheels are getting peeled soon, I'm gonna get them powdercoated for a better look and durability.

I wouldn't use this stuff on any tools I use in the workplace. Wouldn't last a day of hard work. It's good for thing's that are not supposed to get roughed up though.

Yeah I love it. Favorite car to date. Always wanted to get my hands on a 20th too, so to find one in MINT condition with less than 75k on the clock in 2014 was a steal. Especially for the price I paid. I couldn't be happier.

Also emailed the powedercoat guy about a quote on getting my wheels gloss black, only about 320$ for all 4. Winning.

There's always something new coming out. First it was regular colors, then sprayable gallons, then bright colors, then non-fading colors, then glow-in-the-dark dip, then pigments added to clear for all different colors dip, then chameleon dip, now even brighter color flip dip, and latest is the new formula for better coverage (which I suspect is more of the old, clear dip with pigments in it)...

They're always coming out with something new, man... you can keep waiting a lifetime that way. Just take the plunge and dip it!

so im thinking about plasti dipping my entire car... to those of you who have done this, how long does it normally last before it starts to peel in spots? My buddy did his car and said its peeling around headlights and in other places after ~5-6 months.

If you do a thorough job, take your time and prep properly, it should last quite a while.
I did mine for the first time last August and it lasted until May of this year no problem.
There were a few places that I messed up on which lead to some peeling. Other than that it was solid.
I ended up just dipping right over the previous color when I decided to change things up because it was in good shape.

Like a lot of people I've seen, once you do it once you'll want to do it again.. and again haha.
IMHO if you can get 6 months out of it that's pretty good.
