Alright time for me to get some caliper paint. I've decided on the G2 stuff but am having trouble deciding if I want to do a color match crystal red metallic that they do special order or just stick with gloss black. If black then I'd be doing the white brembo stickers and if crystal red I am unsure white or black.

Opinions? I'm having a hard time visualizing the calipers crystal red... Black is easily imaginary.

G2 is $50 a set for the standard colors and $100 for custom colors, they say a kit is good for 4 normal brake calipers and recommends using 2 kits for vehicles with large front calipers.

Planning on doing mine gold at some point, not painting the wheels black though.

If anyone is interested in buying a silver G2 caliper paint kit, let me know. I have one at the house just taking up space. Pretty good deal.

I am thinking that black would look pretty decent. The white brembo sticker would stand out. Is anyone good with photo shop that could mock up the two? Yes I know my car is filthy, road construction everywhere trying to finish before the rain. You'd think that brembo would have a better finish on these things to start with...

^ Looks so sick. Did you use a colour matched kit from G2? Or did you do something else?

I now have a shopping list!

How many cans did you need of the metal specks?

All I'm seeing is 3 primer coats, some metal flake and clear. Where's the color coat?

Metal flakes is a line of color coats. Retro red is the name of that color.

I used the Duplicolor brush on kit and I'm constantly touching up chips on them. I prepped them well and did 3-6 coats IIRC.

I'm going to re-do them next spring. Think I'm going to use clear coat after.

yes the metal specks is color. you won't need more than 1 can of each. just 1 can of primer. 1 can of metal specks. and 1 can of clear. you'll have some of all 3 leftover.

Front calipers only? I'm planning on doing all four.

For people who don't really have any experience with painting, such as myself- is it better to go with a G2 kit? I feel like those are pretty fool proof.

I personally find spray painting to give a much better finish.. that and it seems to hold up fantastic when prepped/primed/painted/cleared

my red calipers held up for 2 years before I ruined part of the finish when trying to get the pins out of the Brembo to do a pad change. Now I refinished mine to a gunmetal metallic. they should hold up for at least 2 years

I painted mine back a few months ago. Definitely go with spray paint. Just take the time to mask everything off and do multiple light coats. I used the VHT Caliper Paint in Silver.

Did this a couple weeks ago and never got the pictures posted. Excuse the cell phone quality and dirty car...

This is with the retro red metal speck paint and high heat primer and clear coat. You can't see it in this photo but it is very metallic, just like the crystal red metallic paint on the car.
