I painted my Brembo red yesterday.. Let it dry all night and all day long. Today I put the sticker on and applied a clear coat. When I applied the clear coat the paint started to flake and crack.. I'll probably need to wash them off and do it all over again.

Anyone know why this happened ?

Haha no it's a clear paint for engine..

I'm not sure flaking is the right word, there's just cracks everywhere

Sounds like you used different based solvants.. make sure they were the same.. ie: both lacquer based etc

The Painted Brembo's Thread...

How did you prep before you painted. How did you spray paint them? Did you leave enough time before coats. Maybe sprayed too much for each layer?

Waited 15-20 mins between the three layers of red.. And then waited almost 24h before the clear coat.

They were brand new calipers so the only thing I did to prepare was sanding them.

Maybe it's just bad quality paint.

Just wanted to add my .02, I rebuild Brembo's for Charger SRT8's and wanted to share a few things. First the Brembo stickers, the one's found on Ebay are generic or don't always fit the application size wise, I had to mic a set and then have them made to spec. At the same time I used that to an advantage and ordered reflective ones from reflective concepts. I have had great success using Ceramic based paint for longevity and also recommend a synthetic brake fluid to prevent paint damage from any fluid getting on your freshly painted caliper! I hope to add a pic soon but PB is down for maintenance at the moment.

clear is not compatible with base coat.
rebuilding Brembos is easy once you have done it a few times. The piston and seal kits and dust seals are so expensive its cheaper to buy new calipers on amazon

The cross over pipe is not sold, if its damaged you have to make it. GM bubble flares are very difficult.

corrosion screws the bridges, the pin sockets and the banjo bolt surface.

buy new.
