ok well im having a door pannel delema right now. 2 years back my buddy decided it would be cool to paint my tan and gray door pannels black. didnt work out well and only did the one pannel. fast forward to today and i ordered a new one off ebay and got it. well its the tan pannel but the top isnt the dark gray, its black... long story short i want to paint the top vinal piece of the door pannel the dark metalic gray that the dash trim is... so my first question is will paint even stick to this and hole up? if not iv seen some people paint these (ss model) and they had a smooth finish to them did they just bondo onto the door pannel and sand and paint? or was it like a fiber glass resin sanded down and the painted? also where can i find that dark metalic gray paint? thanks

 

pretty sure they probably just sanded the texture off the panel, thats what in going to do when i do mine. bondo sounds like a bad idea and so does fiberglass. don't know the paint code, best bet would probably be going to a dealership and find out what it is if no one on here knows. good luck! would like to know exactly which piece you're talking about tho...

also if your buddy painted it black and it rubbed off, won't the same thing happen when you paint is silver?

 

ok.. idk about how ANY of the ss are 2.0 or 2.4 but how the door pannels are a 2 piece door pannel.. the top wich has a vinal feel to it. then the bottom half that is a textured plastic.. im talking about the top half thats like vinal.. (the part that the door handel sits in) as for the last time it didnt rub off.. it did chip a few times but was for careless people getting in and out of the car. but the major issue i had before was splitting the door insert out and trying to re upholster it.. didnt wanna go back in and hold glue kept breaking..
