Painting rims?

Have any of you guys tried to paint your rims with real car paint from the dupont store or another store that sells car paint? i have a paint gun and a compressor to run the gun however im not sure about the paint working. I was thinking i need a better product then the spray paint from auto zone because i keep getting chips from winter. the spray paint is fine if it was summer all year but its not. Plus i can get some pretty sweet colors like a glossy gun metal or something like that....

Brighton... Local. Whats going on?

I did several sets with auto paint. I would not go the rattle can way (no offense to anyone who did that). Auto paint can look alot better and hold up almost as well as powdercoating, ALMOST)

DX57 is PPG's Base Coat hardener. I had mine on for almost 5 years with little to no road wear on the wheels.

What kind of gun are you using??? Your gun can make a HUGE difference.

If you want anymore info on what I did just ask. Good luck bro.

I just got PPG colour in spray cans. Not enough clear coat, so i covered the colour in 3M vinyl.

If you ever have questions talk to a reputable painter and they will be able to point you in the right direction. I'm lucky my brother-in-law has his own shop so I can get help or have him do it for me. I had repair and paint my wheels for me looked as good as new.

Im currecntly painting my rims. Use Duplicolor Caliper spray paint. Its think and is VERY glossy. 1 can is usually 3 coats of paint then i use a can of clear per wheel. I think they turned out great.
