Using Clear Coat on Rust Paint??

I used rust paint on the rims I painted, no where on the can of Rust does it say to use Clear After.

Does anyone have any experience using Clear Coat on Rust Paint? Does it bubble or strip ??

When using a rust retardant paint it's usually an Oil based paint. A clear is usually a latex or water based paint, you can put oil over latex but not latex over oil as it will bubble, yellow or just strip off easily.

I suggest searching for an oil based clear coat and itll work fine.
