What color to paint the bowties?

I was waxing the Cobalt today and noticed that some of the gold paint on the bowtie on my trunk is beginning to flake around the edges. As a result, I am considering painting the bowties a different color. I first considered red but after seeing a couple of black balts with black bowties, I am torn. What do you guys think? Some pics of the finished product would also be sweet.

PS, I'm not interested in debadging

black is the way to go. i think red would look off unless you had other contrasting red parts.

How is the paint holding up on everyones painted bowties? I plan on doing a lot of coats and topping it with just as many clear coats. I imagine the front one gets quite a beating.
