What kind of paint?

I am going to do the painted headlight mod this weekend and was currious as to what type/brand of paint everyone used or recommends for doing this. Also is a clear coat needed? Thanks

I used the dupli-color touch up spray paint on mine, but they are color matched. I helped another guy paint his black, and he just used high temp black engine paint. Also, I used clear coat on mine but not on his, so its really up to you. any questions pm me.

If you use duplicolor or any color other then flat black you must clear it or it will look dull and may peel.

1.) mask any areas you don't want paint on.
2.) prep the surface with a red 3M scuff pad, very lightly
3.) use a duplicolor prep wipe to clean the surface
4.) wipe the surface with a tack cloth or a clean, dry, lint-free towel/rag
5.) spray 2-3 light coats of a self-etching or plastic primer over the area to be painted
6.) apply 3-4 light coats of your preferred duplicolor color, followed by one medium coat, being careful not to cause any runs
7.) if the surface is not glossy enough, follow with 2-3 coats of clear
8.) let dry for at least 5 hours
9.) reassemble headlights with silicon sealant
10.) reinstall headlights into vehicle
