Hey guys I’m building a cobalt for circle track racing I was wondering what the best way to mount the roll cage was.
What do you mean by "best way"? Do you just need safety, or do you want rigidity, as well? There is a difference.
Might want to just try looking up the Koni Challenge Cobalt's from a decade ago. They ran in the Grand Am Road Racing series. There's the Time Attack car, as well.
Any competent cage maker should be able to make something fairly easily. I don't know that too many people on the forums have gone full race car mode with their cars.
Theres a couple good weld in kits out there, and any good fab shop can do it. Biggest thing is understanding what the requirements for tubing size/diameter/wall thickness and bar location are based on what you are doing
I don't have a specific picture, but this is my oval track Cobalt. You can see how I welded and bolted a piece of 2x1 to the floor along the inner rocker service, and mounted all the tubing to this. The build three and many more picture of my build are at https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/auto...thread-328067/
If you have any questions, let me know. I'm in the process of building an Asphalt Nascar Mini Stock from a 2008 Cobalt 2.2L L61.
