ripped my car apart over the weekend. Pistons look to be in really good shape even with the 25psi of boost i have been running. Going to get head ported either here in calgary or somewhere down south. Pistons will be installed after christmas when i get my buddy to come hone the cylinders for me. If anyone is wondering it is super easy to dismantle this motor. Fun part is going to be retiming it on re assembly.

Install List.

Ported head with 78lb valve springs
diamond pistons
possibly cam but i have to do more research
neutral balance shafts to let this engine rev to 8000+RPM
50 shot of nitrous

should be able to polish off 400whp on the dyno with no issues

......

oh, on a completely unrelated subject would anyone here have any idea where the best place might be to buy a wireless adapter for an xbox360?
EB maybe?
Does any one know what they're going for (new or used)?

aside from timing the cams, you need to have a dealer tweak the position sensor. a few ponies to be found there as well. make sure you dont run syn oil for a few changes after the diamonds go in, and make sure on your wall clearance, especially if your gonna throw juice at it. them forged slugs expand 5 times more than stock ones. the rings from diamond will need to be filed to fit your custom bore as well. hope you have a ring file. a nice 2-stage hone will be needed or you will be there for an eternity.....

I'll warn you, many on this site get all excited at the prospect of a woman posting...
(then again, a site like this is a virtual sausage-fest )

just saying.

Welcome here Michelle!

Care to tell people who don't know you (like myself) what you drive ect...?

I'm almost sure that my Mazda 3 rental, which is AUTOMATIC and apparently has 156 hp, is faster than my 5-spd 2.4. Pretty sure that's not supposed to happen... maybe it just feels faster because it's a way smoother ride.

gotta be "feel"...

this is a huge difference from the last post you made about the rental...

this link shows it being 1/10th faster than the XFE Cobalt w/LAP (2008+ 2.2L ecotec) ~ the XFE has much worse gearing for quarter mile tests too; LINK

since I've understood that the LE5 Cobalt is supposed to run at least 2/10ths faster than that test, I'd wager that your own butt-dyno is lying...

how long till you get your car back?

I have a rental cause my car has been at Davis since last Monday, a girl ran a red light and caved in the driver's side of my car basically... was supposed to be done Friday but they're like oh, we found some damage to the power window motor when we started taking stuff apart so we had to order some parts. No ****... really? My door is caved in and you're surprised something in there is broken. Jeezus. But yeah this is the last straw... if I can find an LSJ that's not beat to **** I'm hoping in cause my car compared to this auto 2.3 is a joke. *facepalm*

Hmmm it says 7.3 to 60 and 15.8 @ 88 mph, C&D did 7.1 to 60 and 15.6 @ 90 in a 5-speed G5 GT, so there's hope yet, I suppose. The Mazda would gain a tenth or two with a manual though.

They said tomorrow for my car to be done. The girl's dad is paying $40/day for it on top of the $3,000 for repairs so he'd probably prefer that they hurry the hell up.

I have Toyo Observe G-02's, got a big hookup from one of the guys at Tower Tire that my dad knows well. Traction is good... really noisy which is to be expected. Honestly I did fine on the stock Pirelli P4's thru the first few snowfalls last year until I got Blizzaks.. you can manage on them if you don't drive like a moron. But I'm pretty sure the LSJ is a different Pirelli so it'd probably be worse.
