Calgary - random talk thread
so i decided that i wont be getting any performance mods. i just cant justify spending the money to make a car a little bit faster. when i go performance, it will be a turbo build. so im sticking to appearance only again.
OMFG why does technology hate me today!
Steve-ith. Please telephone call me when you see this.
My phone is being dramatic, and my Facebook app is being a Facebook app.
My interwebz is being painfully slow, and your laptop keeps magically opening stuff.

Some stuff will be of value to you. You get a catback, or something it's not like you have to throw it away when you go turbo. I might end up with exhaust, short shifter, mounts, etc. before I supercharge.
ya i thought about that, but the header would get tossed when i turbo. so ill spend the money on permanent mods
Random question, was talking to a guy from gm the other day. I was planning on getting a CAI. Have been told the 2010 SS/TC has a "down learning" feature, the way it was explained is that anything I do for a HP gain prior to getting the GMPP upgade will be canceled out. Although this sounds like bull to me I was wondering if anyone can confirm this.
Any calgary SS owners hit me up on BBM pin:2322D19C

the GMS1 does change things, and nothing you can do will put it below the rated 280hp/320tq - but items like a CAI might just make you hit those numbers at a different spot in your rpm band...
the "learn down" is where the ecm will essentially see that hte car is making too much power, and start cutting timing ect to bring it back to the original 260/260;
Officially GM says that the "learn down" has been disabled for GMS1 cars, but when you tie it into the airload tables, things can get a bit convoluted;
essentially, you will see gains from bolt-on's on a GMS1 car, but you will see more gains when running an after market tune that is setup taking into account for after market parts...
but the GMS1 will maintain your powertrain warranty... is that important to you?
the only way around is getting a "hidden tune"
1) Race City (probably closing after this season) = 2 hour drive
2) Medicine Hate Drag way = 2 hours
From Calgary we have the following options after this season;
1) Medicine Hate Drag way = 3 hours
2) Castrol = 3 hours
if you don't make money, you have nothing to invest.
