first of all rob, a car company never publishes whp for a car. why would you advertise a performance vehicle to have less hp. and as for people dynoing 220 stock, i think i'll trust the ones that say they dyno'd 185-190 stock, as that seems a lot more accurate. those who say they dyno'd 220, ask them for a dyno sheet. if hp does not equal ft-lbs at 5252rpm the dyno sheet is fake or the dyno is out of calibration. But i'm sure you knew that already. a stage 2 cobalt w/CAI & CBE (~240whp vs. 240whp) would be a drivers race, maybe. a stock ss/sc is as much competition as a civic si towards my car. and as for low 14's being highly optimistic:
14.455 @ 98.48mph, and it could have been faster w/ better launches. your posted time was a 14.3 when this discussion started. hardly 3 bus lengths
btw, where did you run your 13.8 @?

ok guys now atleast you both know you have nice and quick cars, an who cares about this ****. and rob who cares if its not low 14's atleast he ran better then the 14.9 you guys were bugging him about. but hell biggest things is you just have to take over steves project you should be buying all his stuff to make yours faster before dom catches ya

I will eventually beat annom's time (sorry buddy
My goal for this year is 13.6 which is what the previous record was for a ss/sc with my mods-ish.

and only then on heartbreak mustang dynos.
you can deny it all you want, these cars push 210-220 whp from factory. end of story.
good run there btw.
but if ms3s run 13.8 stock, and you have a mod or 2.....
shouldnt you be in the 13s already?
p.s props to you for taking it to the track.
street racing is for wannabes.
question for you guys. a 2.4 twin cam cavalier wants to race me and figures he'll beat me, he's stock with a drop in filter apparently he ran a 16.4 at race city. has anyone else seen these cars stock run at the track?
if he ran a 16.4 and you ran a 16.6 I'd say it would be close. Make it a best of three to avoid the usual bs of "i missed a gear... i had a bad launch... etc"

i had a lot of wheel hop on every run, this one i bogged 1st a little when i launched. still got the win lights and the truck ran 14.29@95.3mph so there is lots of room for improvement on stock, but now my downpipe is in

what the truck ran beside you means nothing to your time.
a ferrari could have a slow reaction time, and i could beat it to the win light,
even if he ran a 11.0
that doesnt mean my car can do 11.0
the lanes are completely independant of eachother

fastest production FWD is still the srt4 neon
and the Csrt4 has hit the same stock times as the ms3, with higher trap speeds, so im not sure where your getting the "fastest production fwd"
unless perhaps your going by magazine times

Well Dom some of us choose not to have a family and pay out of the ass non stop..... Me yeh i am one of those and **** trust me i am far from a rich kid!!! Just to clear that up. JR i argee with you we do drive in class, but no one gives a **** about class on a track.
i hear you bro but that's why that trophy sitting on my shelf and sooner or later i'll be faster than you think don't get me wrong there is nothin better than kicking ass and i do. u watch a real car looks good doing it later
an0malous:
the caliber srt4 was reported to be AWD when i bought my car about a month before the first srt4's were being delivered, and has technically replaced the ms3 as the fastest production FWD due to 17 more crank hp,but horsepower isnt everything. the ms3 still has more torque, has a real LSD not a crappy computer simulated version, a better ride and handling.... the list goes on and on. the ms3 consistently beats the srt4 and the hhr ss/tc (a cobalt with different body) in just about every respect. the biggest issue that every car mag has with the ms3: the shifter feel is crap. i put in a set of aluminum bushings the other day and fixed that problem for $40. can you say the same about your car? stage 2 is ~$900, just to bring it to the performance level GM should have given it from factory. and btw, exactly where would you be getting your info from? a magazine perhaps? if your so knowledgable about this ****, why arent you working for one of these magazines? and as for the neon srt-4, 230hp and 250 ft-lbs hardly qualifies it as the fastest FWD. maybe once they have a srt stage package, but that wouldn't be stock now would it?
and finally...
i dont think that cobalts are crap by any means, they are a great car with tons of potential, as an0malous and many others have proved by building cars that can run low 13's. however any 2 door performance vehicle would be very impractical for me, as i have a 2 year old who rides a car seat. and as entertaining as this argument has been, i have no desire to make enemies here.... but i'm always up for a good debate :cssnet:
some of us also have to pay rent and bills so
and cobalts might have a little more class than a hatchback, but i'll trade it for less attention from the 5-O

magazine or factory reported Hp/Tq numbers mean jack ****.
the Neon SRT4 has confirmed times as low as 13.6 stock, multiple times.
so tell me, what makes your MS3 faster, when only 1 single MS3 has run 13.8, and that wasnt even in north america.
The caliber SRT4 is a brick, its handling is ****, i agree, its computer wannabe lsd is a joke.
but the fact still stands, the MS3 is not faster, nor is it quicker. (if you dont understnad the difference let me know, ill explain)
I also agree that S2 should have been standard, but it is technically offered as a factory option, so if you want to split straws, a Stage 2 cobalt with LSD could be considered show room stock.
can i say the same about my car: hmmmm
the biggest problem the mags had with my car, was my "boy racer" wing.
performance wise, it dominated its competition at the time.
it costs oh....about $3 and 30 minutes of your time to fix that problem

And i dont know, maybe i should be working for a magazine.
but then.....i dont blow smoke up peoples asses based on a factory dyno sheet, and rate cars based on how pretty their interior is, so i dont think i would fit in there
any one who owns a fast car stock or not should be proud of themselves because most people in this world wish they had one. When it comes to quick bragging rights i feel we all should have fun with it and enjoy life because we are all lucky. peace
HAHA JR buddy buddy. Dont let me start in, you have a stock ass car right now so you think your faster than me nope sorry!!!! Don't think you car look better then mine either cause i wasnt in the show and in my opinion your lucky i wasnt
