laloosh i understand where your coming from. i have a stage 2 balt and a couple people i rode by one time in a parking lot with stock 350zs was like "aww take the POS home and park it". i raced one and after i beat the guy and went back to where they were at, all they did was just start talking more **** about how much nicer their cars are and blah blah blah and stopped talking about racing. what im trying to say is man some people think that cars are fast and that they can take anybody on the damn road. those are the ones that talk ****. like i stated before, i love the mazda speed 3's and almost got one. i also love my cobalt now, just stop posting on this thread because your outnumbered and its just a waste of your time. just prove the locals wrong and be done with it. ill admit, a stage 2 cobalt would get beat by yours. if nobody believes this go and test drive one for yourself, and see why im saying this. me and my dad had went and test drove one and i will honestly say that it is a way better constructed car then our. i noticed very little wheel hop at a 3k rpm launch. luckily the guy just gave us a key to it and told us to drive it real quick because he was so busy. but hey you lose some and you win some. thats the fun of racing, you build your car up more so you can pull ahead of people. thats all im saying cause this thread is rediculous. this should be closed because people are bitching way to much cause their cars are slower then another. im out.

guys, laloosh isn't the one talking the ****. everyone jumped on him. i know him, we were talking about cars at work one day, and he came on to learn about the cobalt. he wanted to race one just to see how they compare, because like most people that don't know about these cars thought they were very slow based on the 205 hp. i don't street race, so he came on looking for a friendly race. things escalated when the fanbois took things out of control, bended words, and got but hurt. then people from like 7 states away started talking **** and calling names when he wouldn't drive out to race them. come on, that's rediculous.
not ONCE has he talked **** about the cobalt. not ONCE has he said that the cobalt sucks. not ONCE has he said anything like that. i think people just haven't seen the other posts that got deleted because they got out of hand. he wants to see how he stacks up against a stage 2 cobalt. why? because everyone with a stage 2 cobalt jumped on him in other posts and said a stage 2 cobalt would rape his car. so he wants to race one to see how he would do.

13.8 bone stock thats at 4500ft
12.8 w/ 3"tbe, wga, return line and mapclamp.

Best ive seen out of a ms3 stock is 13.9 on video.
Best time ive heard modded was 13.2 w i/tbe/tune/meth
personally, my turbosmart mbc is sitting next to me. im waiting for my atp boost cut defender. once those two are in and the boost is raised to 18-20 psi, i can hold it to at least 500rpm more. Match that up with my TBE comming shortly. my wheels got here yesterday,still 18s but sexier and a lil lighter, springs are in the mail, motor mount is in the mail. i strongly believe i can get into the low low 13s at 108ish in the nice cold weather thats coming.

Those are great times, but the 12.8 didnt have any drag radials or traction mods? in order to hit a 12.8 on street tires you need to be near 110mph in a fwd.

The 12.8 SRT4 had slicks, no traction mods like mm's or anything though. But a 12.8 with 4 mods that cost less than $1500 is killer, especially in UT at 4500ft.

btw my times were done near sea level. the elevation of the track is 320 feet. The temps were 70 with humidity in the 40s. Dew point was 48. The DA came out to be right around 1000 feet. once october hits and i start seeing 40 degree temps, it might pick up a few mph. last time i went to track i only trapped 100mph, this was august, during the they, temps were a lil higher than 80. Da ended up to be around 1900.
With a 10 degree drop, day turning into night, i picked up a max of .3 and 4 mph. not bad at all. more proof the stock pos intercooler sucks lol

Saw my first MS3, I hammered it to catch up, so did he to get away, didnt work. Im not stock though. I also have an 05 Mazda 3 GT with some minor bolt ons and the MS3 engine sounds way deeper and better, I really liked the sound of it as I drove by. I gave the guy thumbs and let him know he would have no probs taking out stock balt. He was glad to hear I wasnt stock, nice guy.

I can't complain, I seem to run good for a "cobalt" 13.6 stage II, intake, and ingall's ETD. Since then I have added a 2.9 pulley, downpipe with highflow cat, exhaust, DRs, axles, header, motor mounts, tranny mounts. Hope to get to the track soon. Won't be happy with anything less then a 12.8 @ 108 with a 1.9 60"

i think you can do it man. What size radilas are you getting? From what i know about the cobalts you are already at the very end of you 3rd gear at around 107. I think you would benafit from 225 50 15s bfg drags. The smaller wheel will shorten your ratios and allow you to ride out 4th gear alot longer than stock size wheels. Good luck man
