Not to jump in on a fight. Just tossing this out there. I strongly suggest that you invest in another Getrag. These transmissions are tough as nails. this is my second car with a getrag and they have been nothing but good. I previously owned a 3.1l beretta with a getrag 5spd. and having been part of the bstuff forum I saw this transmission used behind many applications including but not limited too; supercharged 3.1l v6 putting out close the 300hp, N/a and S/c 3.8's makin unknown amounts of power and modded quad4's......These are great trannys that will last a long time and can handle some serouis fwd power. my suggestion is get a clutch, a new tranny and Driver Mod Stage 1..

^^^^^^See, I wasn't just BSing you.

I just read your other post about what jacked the tranny. Sounds like it started with a clutch problem and ended up blowing the synchros.

Hard to say over the internet whether that's user error or mechanical failure, but I think you'd be fine replacing the tranny.

As I've said before, you DO NOT want the FGP tranny. Get one that wasn't built for towing. Read the 1st gear swap and you'll see that most everyone with an SS/SC will agree that the gearing sucks.

damn, too late. damn hippies killed all the fun...

What exactly failed in the tranny? I agree with everyone else, just get a new f23 and call it a day. If your truely thinking about sticking a SC on your not going to be over doing it anymore then the turbo kits for the 2.4/2.2.. theres no real need to "upgrade". its just added expense and more problems.

I think he's trying to tell you to evaluate the serviceability of the loose nut behind the wheel and refresh or replace as necessary. [/sarcasm]

The Getrag in these cars is one tough SOB. Just get a new one and don't worry about switching gears as its been mentioned. Even the two or three times I've ever driven an SS/SC, I already know that I couldn't live with the damn gearing. Might as well start in 2nd whenever it rains.
