Cant drive my car
Cant drive my car
dam this sucks i went to start my car and get in and start it up.......started up fine went to drive away and i put it in first and i went no where so im guessing i need a new clutch??? and its the freaking weekend and i cant take it to the dealership till monday....u guys think its the clutch or someting worse??
I had the same freakin thing happen....I stopped for a coffee, got out had a smoke with my buddies and when i went to drive away nothing. When I brought it to the garage it turned out to be the clutch. 1.569 $ CAD. They said that the clutch just does'nt let out that quick, but it did!!
nah it didnt stall out or nuttin i got in my car so i can go to wotk and i put it in gear and went no where
i was pissed that this **** happened i only had it for 5months and 12k miles on it
so im hoping its the clutch and if so im just going to go aftermarket.....purchase that and talk to chevy and see if they can put that in instead of another stock one that would be covered under warranty possibly

In my experience, the only thing that will make a cluch go out the way you describe is if the friction material burst from centrifugal force. This can happen when downshifting, if you downshift to a much lower gear, the input shaft of the trans and therefore the clutch disc are brought up to a speed that is equivilant to:
wheel speed x final drive ratio x ratio of the gear that you shifted into
Generally, at about 10,000 - 12,000 rpm, a clutch disc will burst. Tale tell signs are when the trans is removed, the inside of the bell housing has fragments of clutch material all over. If this is what happened, and the dealer warranties it, be very grateful.

Exact same thing happened to me, I was going 15 mph in 2nd gear and my car just started to coast, while in gear. I could put it into any gear with out even touching the clutch. Its at the dealer right now, I'll know more tomorrow.
