i think i get it. if your going 60 in 5th the rpms are around 2-2.5k but you drop to 4th and 60 in 4th is 4-5k?
somthing like that. not up on rpms per gear

yeah pretty much, that's the gist of it. puts less strain on all the driveline components.

i wondered what that was called i used to pull my 85 corolla out of year to neutal then cluch it in to a new one

I'm also a truck driver and a bike rider and I rarely use the clutch except when backing or at stop lights. On a bike, if you ease off the throttle slightly when upshifting you can shift it pretty smoothly so that you don't upset the suspension when going into a curve. A lot of cars and bikes set up for the strip have a ignition kill switch that kill the ignition for a millisecond so you can do full power shifts without lifting off the throttle or using the clutch.
