It really seemed to work out for me, I got it installed wed w/ my injen cai wed morning leave house in the morning peel out hoping like a s.o.a.b. wed night leave work get on it with the new cai and strut bar installed just spin virtually no hop what so ever. Please someone verify this for me so i dont feel so nuts.
Bar shouldn't make a difference, it didn't in mine and if I had to say there was any difference, I'd say the wheel hop is worse. The only noticable difference I saw with the bar is that it seemed to make the torque steer more noticable.
There is a brace that GM has on the Ion that bolts onto the cobalt, and they say it helps with torque steer. I am going to dig into it a little more Monday at work and see if I can find a part number. It was in my GMPP handbook.

with your homemade mount is it loud? has to be loud.
I think the DCstrut bar helped with wheelhop a bit. but definatly makes torque steer more noticable.
if it "went away" you may not be driving your car to it's potential
