GMPP Trans Mounts causing wheel hop ??
Hey guys .... So over the winter I installed the GMPP Trans Mounts (SS/TC Mounts). Well, I'm experiencing wheel hop with them in 1st gear when rpms get around 6,500. When I had my production SS/SC trans mounts I never had wheel hop like this. I installed them as per the instructions, and torqued all bolts to spec. I even loosened the through bolts again last night, and torqued them back to spec to see if the trans needed to settle more. No dice. I don't think the addition of my Corsa catback increased my horsepower enough to cause wheel hop with upgraded mounts, ha. Any ideas on what may be causing the problem ?
I know some of you are going to say I should have bought the OTTP rotated mounts, but I really don't take my car to the track. All I was looking for was a slight upgrade over the production SS/SC trans mounts.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot .... I also have an Ingalls Torque Damper. It's been set at 10mm since I installed it a couple of years ago, and it has never caused a problem.

1. Install front trans mount and torque mounting bolts to 66 lb-ft.
2. Hand start through bolt (do not tighten)
3. Loosen rear trans mount through bolt to let transmission settle.
4. Tighten rear trans mount through bolt, and torque to 74 lb-ft.
5. Tighten front trans mount through bolt, and torque to 74 lb-ft.
You do the same procedure when installing the rear GMPP trans mount.
The wheel hop is driving me nuts, because I never had it with the stock SS/SC mounts. I always take my time when installing parts and tripple checked to insure i installed the mounts correctly.
do what i said to do. :P
when I installed my ottp stage 1 kit, I had kinda bad vibes, John Powell told me to loosen the side passenger upper mount and retighten. WOW made a huge diff. I have barely a vibe and they havent broken in yet and It may be your same issue.

Sorry for misunderstanding what you were getting at. I bet you are right about the breaking in part as well. I have maybe 1,000 miles on them. I have to learn to be more paitent, ha.
holy crap I bet after you loosen those mounts you'll feel a slight difference. Retighten to 45lbs (those 3 bolts) Only loosen them by 3/4 to 1 turn.
so loosen all 3 bolts then tighten all 3. You may not see the engine move but once you fire up the car you'll probably feel a slight difference.

I will be doing this after work today. I will let you know how I make out.

Northvibe: This afternoon I loosened/re torqued the 3 bolts on the passenger side upper engine mount, and things seem to be better now. I'll be taking the car out tomorrow to test it out.

Bringing back an old thread to post my recent experience. I had installed the Powell stage 1 rotated trans mount back in 2015 and never dealt with vibrations like some have had. Then about a month ago I had the clutch replaced and it vibrated heavily afterward. The rotated trans mount wasn't stressed like the motor/trans got shifted to one side. So, I knew that wasn't the issue. I tried all different things with loosening bolts and driving lightly and then tightening again, but it didn't improve to where it was before. I thought it did at first and then I drove for a bit and I wasn't satisfied. What I ended up having to do was go through the entire process of bolt tightening with a jack under the trans like I was installing it for the first time, as John Powell says in this thread https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/driv...sj-lnf-253153/
