HELP! Shifter Linkage Nightmare!

I have a 06 ss-sc . Car has 83k miles on it. Trans and clutch always feel fine. No hard shifts or anything.

I was driving to work today, car went into first no problem but wouldnt go into second. I noticed first gear felt Odd when shifting. I shifted into third which felt odd but it still went into gear. When i shifted into fourth it goes into gear but the actual shifter falls forward and sits in neutral, still in fourth gear. Fifth gear does the same. Its difficult to get it into reverse. After messing around with it im able to get it into all gears successfully, but the shifter feels off. When in all gears (except second which it is hard to get into) the shifter has a ton of forward and backword movement. Kinda leads me to think that its not a TRANS issue but more of a linkage issue.

I took out the center console and everything looks ok. Im going to take more appart tomorrow.

Other technicians have said it may be the detents on the trans that are worn out. Or possibly something with the linkage or a bushing or something.

Has any one had this issue before? ANy one have any ideas? Please help!

-Derek

have a look where the cables hook onto the transmission, have someone move the shifter forward and back and see whats moving.

Where are the roll pins located?

I checked the linkage yesterday and everything seems normal. The Bottom shift point (Where the linkage connects to the top of the trans) feels tight and u can feel it go into gear when you move it but the upper one feels like its disconnected or something.

I had some one shift gears while i looked at the shift points and the upper one is all over the place :/ Im guessing its inside the trans.

Any one know if its easy to fix? Or if i need a new trans/overhaul
