Lnf Cobalt Trans Noise Help

Someone please point me in the right direction,I am at my breaking point. I have this rotational humming noise, similar to a wheel bearing roar but more chirpy if that makes sense. Seems to be on the driver side but noise travels so idk.I have replaced both wheel bearings, pads, rotors and the bearing on the passenger side axle shaft. The noise does not change when the clutch is disengaged or engaged. I wish I could be more specific on the noise, its hard to describe. Its possible I got a bad new wheel bearing, that has happend to me before, but I'm looking at the trans, differential, there is nothing left but the CV shafts. Anyone know what a bad input shaft or output bearing sound like or diff bearing. Someone please point me in the right direction please.

Does the sound go away when you press in the clutch?

OK, just seeing if you just bought it and weren't familiar with the noisy trans. Did you do the other repairs yourself or have you taken it to a shop? I wish I could help but this is definitely beyond me. I wouldn't want you throwing parts at the problem.

I repair my car myself, only thing I didnt do was the clutch,I took it to the dealership 2 yrs ago for that.Im lost, its more of a rubbing type rotational noise than a metal tingy rotational noise that really starts above 20mph and goes up from there. I have a feeling it is internal trans/diff. I have replaced everything rotational in the front except the halfshafts.I havnt looked into a trans rebuild yet but from what I see on here parts are scarce and its costly...Idk what's left😢

Trans is toast, removed drain plug and the magnet was covered with slivers and you can see the sparkle of metal in the old fluid

Hey did you ever figure out what was making the noise. Mine makes more noise the faster you go. It isn’t the typical whine/scratch noise. It’s like a buzzing rotating noise that won’t quit. Tranny shifts normal. Drives normal. I can feel the buzz though. Definitely coming out of the diff

What was the mileage? Also, did you have the g85 tranny?

Mine has 115k on it,bought the car brand new. It does have LSD..I dont know specifically what went wrong until it gets opened up. I know it's a bearing, whether its input, output or differential. My suggestion to you is change the fluid then you can inspect the magnet on the plug.Mine had a shhhload of metal slivers on it.Nothing big is hopefully broken, the car runs, shifts good as it did on day 1,just a bearing went bad. I cant prove it but the fluid I took out was red, like normal trans fluid.Im thinking the dealership put the wrong fluid in when they did the clutch last yr,the new fluid I got was tan, almost like oil.

Have you replaced anything to rule out it being a wheel bearing or the axle shaft bearing on th p-side.Thats exactly what mine makes, its not like a wheel bearing roar, its a lil different that gets louder the faster you go..When your driving and the car is moving, turn the wheel to the right and left and see if the noise changes,if it does than you have a wheel bearing bad, which ever way you turn the wheel if the noise gets louder, the other side bearing is bad

The red fluid that came out was correct, had my trans out three different times and the first two times I got fluid from Chevrolet, last time I used redline mt90 from zzp performance, have the same exact mileage on mine

The old part number trans fluid if I recall was red. The new part number that replaces it is more regular oil colored.

Turning doesn’t change the sound. I’ve changed the fluid. Old was red. New is tannish clear. I had the car jacked up and rotated the wheels. It sounds like the source is driver side bearing where the drive shaft goes into the tranny.
