Trans Service Mistake

Ok so i own a 06 SS cobalt 2.4 (non- SC) and last summer i had a guy do a trans service for me because i didn't wanna mess with it

however i noticed on my bill he charged my like $3 something for each qrt of trans fluid this worries me because i'm fairly certain my car takes DEX VI and that **** is synthetic and like $7 or $8 a qrt

anyway my plan was to just do the service again in the near future by myself, however today my cars insrument panel acted up and my drivetrain/powersteering light came on and i temporarily lost PSing, so when i slowed down to stop my car sputtered and shifted crazy and wanted to stall

i'm not sure if this is a result of the wrong trans fluid or another issue?

You didn't state whether or not your car was an automatic, or a manual... I'm going to assume it is an automatic, and if that is the case, yes you are right. Your vehicle should have Dexron VI in it, and nothing but. If he did NOT put Dexron VI in it... then I would be looking into rectifying that immediately. The only kind of trans fluid that is gonna cost you $3 per quart is Dexron III, lol.

If it is a manual, then it falls under a GM part #. Don't really know what that's all about, but I would guess it's either some special manual gearbox fluid, or just 5w30. OR... gear oil perhaps? Can't find out the proper information on Mitchell for you.

Power steering fluid is also by GM part #.

Oh, and I really don't know what a flopped transmission service would have a damn thing to do with an instrument cluster malfunction, topped with a loss of power steering. I can assure you it's totally unrelated.

If you're having electrical anomalies, try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for about 15 minutes and see if it clears up. My friend's 06 LS Sedan was doing similiar **** and the battery trick fixed it.
