I had almost this same issue, tried to play a .mp4 off a USB on my F700BT. It recognized it as a video, but showed no video and instead only played audio. I'm pretty sure they are just really fussy about what videos they can play and the codecs that are already installed in the headunits.

 

well i got the divx converter and used the .avi files as input and the output i selected was the home theater divx since thats what pioneer said...

well the avi files are converting now and when i put my cursor over the completed files it says "Divx file" but the picture is a windows media player one...

hopefully this works

ahhhh i kinda worked, i can play the songs now but after i bypass it still just stays the illuminated black screen...but at least it plays the music now...

yeaaa being able to play videos on my DVD player thats meant to play videos would be sick also.

my favorite is the A2DP profile so that I can stream music through bluetooth from my phone...downside is you prob lose like...32-64 kbps using this method.

 

if u have a mac use idvd and imovie hd. you can edit them and then burn them to dvd. i have the avicd3 and ive been doing this since 2007

 

ya i can do that too but ive only done it once. i really just use my phone as a phone. txt and call. the rest of the features are sparingly (i do use the handsfree thou)

 

too lazy to sync my ipod now since I switched harddrives and would have to "resync it" or w/e and wipe all my **** only to have to put all of the same stuff back on so I've been using my phone via usb for music...ain't bad.

 

sooooo anyone have any idea on why it would play the music but not show the video?

the screen illuminates black like it wants to play a video but it dosent...
