diffrent year radio swap

is it possible to take the radio out of an 08 and put it in an 06?

From what I understand... no. I was wondering this same thing too but this is the answer I found everywhere.

Yes, and there is a How To Somewhere. Steering wheel control wont work and you will have to re- pin the connector

dont have steering controls. is there a diagram of the wiring i can look at

pretty sure 05-06 is stuck with the same style radio. 2007 can use the 2008-2010 usb radio though

can i swap the radio from a 2010 ss that includes USB option to a 09 ss that does not have the usb?
ive been looking everywhere and theres very little information..

Yes, you can swap. If you have an amplified system, try to find a used radio from and amplified car. If you have a non-amplified system, try to find a used one from a non-amplified car. The only way to change that setting(UQ3/UQ4)in the radio is through a dealer. You'll also need a radio thats unlocked or you'll need a dealer (or someone with a tech2) to clear the vin/unlock it for you.

yep, just buy an unlocked radio or you'll have to have it done before you can use it.

thanks guys! yeah i already bought one on ebay for 50$ and already talking to dealer about unlocking it hehe very hard to find unlocked radio unless its premium price

An aftermarket head unit would've saved you the headache and sounded better

one of the big reasons why i want to keep the stock radio is because of the wheel controls..
i had double din in my 06 2.4 but honestly its still a radio lol... the stock one does the same job really. the only thing missing was the USB =P
and when it comes to the sound quality im planning on adding an amp this summer when i get some time off, should be fun =D

i would avoid that universal one but ive had the radio specific one from PAC in both my old and new cobalts. Works like a charm
