I have never had allot of luck trying to use the factory antennas with after market radios. I'm sure it's possible but probably not practical.

edit: just read the faq and looks like others don't recommended it either.

The factory antenna is the same thing as what comes in most XM kits for aftermarket radios, provided you have the XM square and not the "shark fin". The Pioneer XM adapter for sat-ready HUs is the same exact thing as what came on the top of my 07 from the factory...

you can it works best outside of the vehicle thou. You can also throw some 3m double sided tape on it to keep it in place

Yea it works I did it to mine there's three wires in the factory antenna ( if you have onstar etc on my 09 colors are brown black and purple I believe) there is a certain frequency/resistance that the xm antennas need to be to work so only one of the three will work good. Once u drop the bak of the head linner you will see them. I used the brown coaxle cable in the factory antenna cut my aftermarket antenna off and installed a female coax end same as the end that plugs into Ur aftermarket xm box (mini coax) you have to make sure the center is connected good and the outter ground is connected. Make sure the dont touch each other. I wish i had pics i was gonna make a how to but I figured it would have gotten flamed up lol but it took a little trial and error. But it can be done. Also I same can be done for gps if you know what Ur doing lol
