Inside Rearview Mirror Swap?

I recently got an 09 SS/TC and one thing that annoys me is that the auto-dimming rearview mirror with onstar and a compass wasn't even available as an option. The HHR does have this mirror though. Does anyone know if it's possible to swap out the auto dimming mirror in place of our manual flip dim mirror? Would Onstar still work?

The electrochromatic mirror was not an option for 2009, and regardless I don't have it on my car so I'm looking to do a swap. It really bothers me not having a compass when I can tell why my air/fuel ratio is and other mostly useless stuff. I'll give my dealer a call and see if he can find out.

I would say having a compass is a bit more useful than knowing your instantaneous AF ratio while cruising down the highway...

...Odd # highways run North and South, even # run East to West, what more do you need to know?

And if/once you get into modifying your car, knowing your AF will become quite important... but what do the hundreds of Cobalt owners that paid $230+ for a AF gauge know

I'm also looking to add the auto dimming mirror. I really miss not having it.
