I just made a recommendation if he didn't want to spend the money on the good stuff. The peel N seel crap will work, just won't last for the life of the car... or on vertical faces very well.

Also his comments on Dynamat being superior... do some research mr car audio proffesional dude.
Obviously your ******* on asphalt based dampeners and not butyl based.

I could name a whole list of products that work twice as well than dynamat. All becuase it has a heafty price tag doesn't make it a better product.

Try Second Skin Damplifier Pro, hell anything by second skin would be better than dynamat.
- Damplifier
- Damplifier Pro
- Luxury Liner

Hell i bet Raammatt is probably better than dynamat and it's cheap too.

You need to step back and realize that not everybody is as you described yourself a "professional". The difference from using a $8/ sq ft deadner to a $1.50/ sq ft deadner might not be THAT noticeable to someone who really doesn't get into it. You at least have to agree that some deadner is better than none.

Myself, I am not using Peel N Seel. I am using Damplifier Pro. I've purchased 135 square feet to do my car.

Lastly, if you want to claim yourself as a proffesional in car audio, you best be ready to back that up and prove it. Stating that you work at Best Buy as an installer doesn't back that up one bit either.

I think this comment right here completely strips you of any and all rights to judge people on their knowledge of car audio...

Sounds like a lawsuit to me.
"Yes judge, I installed an aftermarket radio in my car, like millions of consumers do, and I got into a car accident and my airbags never deployed!"

GM Engineers would never be that stupid to design their safety devices around a product that is very commonly replaced. That would be just plain stupid.

Lol you must be the little mexican man that's always on pimp my ride that does all the upholstery work.

You listen up numb nuts. Ignoring you is the next step. But first, let me say this. And you better get your mother to read it to you so you'll half ass comprehend it.

There are not enough hours in the day to do all of the things I possibly want to do. Let me break down my life for you since this is what it's going to take.

I wake up at 4:00 a.m. monday-thursday and work until 5:00 p.m. in the evening out in the hot ass sun at Mcduffie Coal Terminal at the Alabama State Docks. Kevin (yellowltcoupe22) can vouch for me because he's the one that got me hired! It takes us roughly an hour to an hour and a half to get home from there because we live in Mississippi. That puts me at 6:30 p.m. when I get to my car. Add another 30 minutes of driving time to make it to my house, 7:00 p.m. Once I get a shower and make myself presentable to the public, I go and visit my girlfriend, who just recently was involved in a bad car accident leaving one man dead, one girl practically brain dead, and another still in the hospital with leg problems and head trauma. She didn't come out untouched either. Currently, her neck is broken in 3 places and 2 vertebra in her back are fractured. She has a broken wrist, a broken collar bone, a busted spleen, and bruised lungs. As a matter of fact, I JUST got home from seeing her. I only got to spend roughly an hour and 15 minutes with her, the rest is driving time. The current time is 9:17 p.m. Dark. It is completely dark outside. Usually, I would be laying in bed right now trying to sleep for work tomorrow but instead I'm on a cobalt forum busting your pathetic, whining ass *****. Let me continue.

We usually do not work fridays at the state docks, so this is my ONLY day off. This is the only day I have to attend to any business that I need to attend to for the week. I have bills to pay, a dog to take car of, a family I would like to visit with, friends who would like my help on their projects, and somewhere in there my own car to try and work on. ONE DAY A WEEK. But I'm still not finished.

Saturday I get up and get ready for my second job. I am also a sales associate at American Eagle Outfitters at Edgewater Mall in Biloxi, Mississippi, which is an hour away from my house one-way. Usually, I close, so my shifts vary from 12 p.m. - 10 p.m. That's half the day gone right there. That morning, if I do not have any other business to attend to then I get the time to work on my CAR. <-- Let me note to you that a piece of MDF particle board is approx. 4 ft x 8 ft in size. That will not fit in a car. My mother has an 07 Dodge hemi truck, but she too has to work and has her own business to attend to. In fact, she told me she would get my mdf today for me since I gave her the money last week to get it and if it wasn't raining. Too bad it was raining.

Sunday, is pretty much the same as saturday, except my shift at AE is 12-7p.m. EVERY SUNDAY. Once I get home around 8-8:30, I pack my lunch for the next day, make sure I have clothes to wear and gas to get there, and I go to bed.

So here I am, using the little bit of spare time that I have to try and learn how to do something that I've always wanted to do, something that I have a passion for, and you're in here spamming my thread about my decision not to spend $150 on 20 sq. ft of CRAP just to keep a few rattles outta my car? I would much rather take the advice of a REAL PROFESSIONAL instead of some ****** who I have never met before and actually have no clue exists. How do I know you aren't some 13 year old kid who has a monthly subscription to import tuner or even the chuckey cheese newsletter? I've already insisted nicely that you leave my thread because your opinion is not welcome here. Now, if you post again, I'll be going to the authorities of this forum so that they can apply discipline however they see fit. Thanks for your input, but no thanks.

Get the **** out of my thread before you get it locked. This is your warning. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Go your ass straight to the damn jail house. I won't tell you again.

second off if there's a hole in your car you shouldn't just cover it with dynamat you should really fix it the right way.. well least we know he's not a body shop guy either (yes i was picking on your spelling)
true dynamat is a beginers love for rattles but then later sucks so they gtta upgrade to sumthin better.... at the shop i work at we have trunks linexd next door at the shop, that **** works great and we also linex sub boxes if for extra money it gives like a 5x better sound on the subs bc it makes sure its air tight sealed all around and it makes the wood sturdy ass heal so less wood flexing when hitting hard = better response

all it takes is doing a little research to know that dynamat sucks lol .. esp for the price.. christ and even if you use dynamat if you plan correctly you don't need that much you can cover key spots and make it sound good without wasting too much money

Share the love... lol I just dropped like $400 on deadener from Second Skin! Lol.

rockStar, you already know you inspired me to work on the rear deck. My pioneers came in today and the RE woofer should be here this week, probably tomorrow.

Ignore the haters! Like elecblue said, just hit the key rattle spots. If your not doing for SPL you just want the rattles gone, buy enough for the trunk lid, rear deck and doors. Forget the floor.

Don't give up... I wanna see you finish this! (I too have the same schedule as you Up at 5am for work, til 4:30 and class from 6pm to 10pm... repeat monday through Friday. Saturday 6am to 2:30pm at work.)

Thanks a lot guys for your support! I'm definitely not giving up. My deadline for the rear deck is next weekend because we have a HUGE car show coming up and I wanna look clean for it. Won't be entering, but still wanna have something nice all the same.

Switt, make sure you post pics of things whenever you get it all in. I'd like to see what ya got bro.

And as far as sound dampening goes, thanks for all your suggestions. I'll see if I can find any of these locally. I still haven't had the chance to get my mdf board because off the sea breeze evening showers. I'll probably get up first thing in the morning and go get it myself. My weekend starts right now, so I'm gonna jump right on it.

Also for those interested, Shelby (my girlfriend) is due to have surgery on her collar bone and wrist sometime next week. She's doing great and she's up walking around even though I wish she wouldn't be. She already thinks she can take her casts off lol Anyways, I'll try to keep updates on her as well. She's expected to make a great recovery.

So I got my mdf today! I started working on it as soon as I got it. I have the first piece cut but I'll probably have to re-do it because I did a little too much cutting off of it ha ha. I'll post pictures in the morning once I start again. There will be plenty so be ready folks!

13 pictures are here!! However, somehow I busted the screen on my digi camera so I dunno how great they are... This is as far as I've got this morning. So far, this deck consists of three pieces. The slanted piece going to the back glass still needs supports built underneath. Right now, I only have 3 spots to put said supports: around the speaker holes, at the front where it meets the flat piece, and somehow at the very back. I foresee the funnest part of this install being the part where I wanna start wrapping it XD Going to clean the car out and get ready for work while they upload on to photobucket.

Here's yer pictures

mdf

Had to open 'er up. I wish I had a car port.

Basic tools needed. I also used a table saw, jig saw, power drill and bits, and an extension cord.

Pictures of the first piece going in.

Sorry I didn't get any pictures this morning of the second and third piece fitment. Here's what she looks like right now. I forget to take one with the seats up

Here's the pics with the seats up

And that's all for now! Gotta get ready for work.

I had a problem "Seeing your Vision" up until now but I see what your doing. Its coming along nice.

Some advice, I just finished putting layer #4 of sound deadner on my decklid (that makes 2 on top and 2 on the bottom) without putting some kind of material between the wood and the metal its going to rattle and vibrate like a bitch.
Do it now while you have it riped apart so you don't have to take it apart later on, when you do make sure you cover the holes at the back of the lid right where the window and the metal meet

he shouldnt have any glare at all after he covers it. he had planned on usin black seude but i think he is just gonna go with black carpet like whats on a speaker box now.

o and besides that his windows have 7% tint on em so there isnt much sun comin through em either.

He's going with a modified version of what I recommended it looks like. I also recommended that he use sound dampening foam between the rack and the metal. It's light weight and would totally fill the spaces and groves.

rockSTAR, make sure you fab up some very solid bracing for the panels and I would consider getting it Line-X'ed like was recommended by tvalentino. If not that, then go with something to stiffen it up.

Looking good.

Thanks a lot guys. I'll definitely be sure to sound dampen as much as possible, and I'll get those holes covered up in the back. I'm almost certain once I get it covered then the only glare will probably be off the amp and maybe a lil from the speakers. I can't hardly see out the back glass anyways ha ha will work on it more tomorrow morning...

I planned on "ribbing" the underside with some 1x2's or something to help stiffen it up a bit.
