Radio swap help!!!!

I bought a black factory radio and it says it's locked.

Has anyone swapped from a different Cobalt and what did you do to unlock it?

the dealer has to reflash it. costs like 50 bucks. any reason you would downgrade to that radio besides the color? wanna sell yours? lol

Go to the dealer and pay them a half hour of work to unlock it. They just hook it up to their computer and unlock it.

you have to take it to the dealership to get your bcm flashed to work with it.

I just wanna make sure someones done it before. They said it might not work

One dealership said I need the car that it came from.

just swap the faceplates from that one to your old one if youre just doing it for the color

I didn't see this post but that's what I ended up doing.

I was about to walk in to return when it clicked in my head to swap the faceplate haha

Lol now all you have to do is put the silver one on the locked radio and put it on ebay to recoup some of your money.

Technically I have 30 days to return it. It doesn't say anywhere on here black faceplate

It's been done before. A friend of mine even installed one from an '09 into his '07.

eh it was much easier to switch the faceplates and I save myself at least $100 to have them do it
