2.2 turbo finished
Yeah ill stick to driving it around in vacuum for 1k miles. lol Hmm, maybe i can pay someone to do it for me while im at work, but i dont think i trust anyone but kevin to drive my car.
nah i just know if i blow it up then i replace the motor
heck i would drive that little beast around i am cool with that!not at first, but i did get a 3inch exhaust put on. I put that big of an exhaust on because im rebuilding the engine.
by the 30th i should be fully tuned and running down evo's and sti's. im just not looking forward to the damn 1k break in period of the pistons/rods. not sure how im going to keep the car out of boost during that time, maybe just keep it under 2300 rpms to start and not have a lead foot lol that would suck for 1k miles.

I already have my boost gauge/controller connected.

If it does not car about exhaust, then hoe come you blew your intake mani after your's was put on.... Did you crank up the boost?

1 of 2 things. When i inspected my engine bay just after it happened, i noticed the line from the outlet side of the turbo that feeds into the wastegate actuator had come loose and was hanging. but once i fixed my intake manifold and watched my boost gauge after plugging it back in, it would still overboost, so i believe the actuator/wastegate is stuck. the guy working on my engine right now is taking a look at it.
Im also only able to get 9.5:1 pistons from Diamon Racing for the L61. Whats weird is they have Ecotec 2.2 pistons, but the engine code they show is LSJ. The only L42/L61 pistons they have that wouldnt be custom made are 9.5:1. I was hoping to up the compression to 10.5:1 but it would cost $480 for pistons. The 9.5:1 are going for $371 bux, not including rings, but those shouldnt be too pricey i hope. So ill be running 9.5:1 compression, @ 15-20psi.
Trevor, since you did those calculations with the compressor map, can you see what 15, 17, and 20psi would do on that map? See if its doable. If you do that for me, ill let you drive my car =P and ill help you tune your car if you need it, since ill have experience tuning mine at high and low boost levels.
Honestly im not sure, all i know is when i hooked the hose back up it was still overboosting, making me believe the wastegate or actuator wasnt opening. we will know by tonight whats up cuz hes spending all day today on my motor. only problem is i dont have the parts in yet, so its gonna be next week sometime that he puts it back together.

I will get to work on that. May take a bit since I will be working on my turbo....

Hey, did you have any gasket's with your kit?
The instructions says that there is to be two. One between the turbo and the manifold....

and the other between the exhaust side of the turbo and the elbow:

John said that the surfaces are machined so that you do not need the gaskets. Just want to see what you got in yours.....
