More Boost Obtained!
More Boost Obtained!
Hey just trying something to eliminate a code and tried something I have wanted to do for a bit.
I actually think I took it a step further though!! They call it the boost bypass mod on here.
I have a 2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged
What I did was remove the bypass valve completely! Plugged the hole on the Supercharger and plugged the hose going to the intake manifold and left the solonoid open but wire connected.
I was able to obtain 15+ pounds of boost or (105 kpa)
just curious to see who all has done anything like this and if they stuck with it?????
Currently i have a code and desperatly trying everything to see if it changes the whole setup.
I have another question, is the by pass valve supposed to be open at idle??
And finally i read somewhere you are not supposed to be able to blow through the solonoid that connecct the intake hose to the bypass vavle hose???
any help would be appreciated

alright so as of right now my car while idling the by pass valve is open.
I just don't get why it would be open when the engine is in vacuum??
I also thought it only opened after 6000rpm, but then it really wouldn't get used much.

If you've ever seen a big 6-71 blower on a car, and heard the idle surge they have, it's because they don't have any sort of bypass, and it takes enough power to compress the air in the blower than it sucks the engine speed down as the rotor gaps close.

It opens under idle and while cruising to help eliminate some of the parasitic loss caused by compressing air in the blower. It sucks air before it reaches the blower, and keeps the sc from having to compress air when it's not needed.

I know one entrepreneur who built a successful business almost solely on referrals. How'd he get so good at it? When he was an eager young sales apprentice, his manager trained him well. Every time he glanced at his watch, which he did often in his zeal to stay on schedule, it meant it was time to ask for a referral. Eventually, it became second nature.
