I did it, think I was one of the first.

Do you have abs? My car did not but I've heard that vehicles with abs will not work after and the light is gonna stay on.

Since your a 2010 I would think you won't need to change calipers and such. After 09 the lt had five lug so you should be able to just use front rotors, rear drums and 4 wheel bearings. Pretty simple, just double check part numbers about the calipers and brackets but I would think you would be ok. I did the swap and upgraded to LSJ front brakes so mine needed calipers also.

I must have been unlucky to get the 2010 4 lug lt but as far as I know my car does not have abs but if you could do me a favor if it's not to much to ask if you could list the parts I'm gonna need so I can start getting them if you don't mind I would appreciate it I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to the swapping stuff

I'll post my list I bought.
Part Number Part Type Price EA Core EA Quantity Total
2009 CHEVROLET COBALT 2.0L L4 Turbocharged
ACDELCO 18B597 Drum $ 28.79 $ 0.00 2 $ 57.58
RAYBESTOS 9982N Lug Nut $ 1.82 $ 0.00 20 $ 36.40
TIMKEN HA590086 Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly $ 118.79 $ 0.00 2 $ 237.58
TIMKEN HA590088 Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly $ 114.79 $ 0.00 2 $ 229.58
2009 CHEVROLET COBALT 2.2L L4
ACDELCO 17800B Brake Shoe $ 46.79 $ 0.00 1 $ 46.79
Discount $ -30.40
Shipping Priority Mail (1 to 5 business days), Ground $ 34.39
Order Total $ 611.92

After that you would need to decide if you want the Brembo brake swap, redrill your current rotors or LSJ brakes. I went with the Brembos from CED which is another $850

Make sure you get those same wheel Bearings, RockAuto is wrong the ones I bought wouldn't fit the SS/TC their SS/SC hubs which are the same as the base hubs.

Their not too visible though, and I plan on swapping the kit Powell made in the spring.

Their just the 5 lug drums painted black at the moment.

Yes I got all those parts from Rock Auto and the Brembo kit from CED.

I think I read if you want to change to disk, you need the whole rear axle off a disc car to do it right

Powell makes brackets for the rear caliper swap. Im using a full rear axle swap though.

That's why I mentioned Powell I'm going to use his brackets and the rest he fabed up so it's got a drum in the center for the e-brake and Brembo brakes on a disc around it.

That's about it really. Any parts store will have/can get what you need. You'll need new front calipers and caliper brakets, front rotors, and pads from which ever level of brakes you want. You have the option of the 5 lug LT brakes or the SS. Front wheels bearings, (as stated above don't use SS/TC bearings they have a different spline pattern for the axles) axle nuts, rear wheel bearings from a 5 lug LT, and drums from a 5 lug LT. You can reuse your rear shoes they are pretty much the same. I don't recommend cheaping out on the drums I went with the el-cheapo white box ones and one of them is out of balance, gives me a high speed braking vibration. And lug nuts.

I'd recommend using SS brakes not LT. Make sure you get the loaded calipers because they come with the brakets the unloaded may not.

I don't know how handy your are but if your gonna try to get a shop to do it, be prepared to pay. Expect to pay around 2 hours a wheel bearing. If you where closer I'd say I'd to it for you but VA is a few hours from me so. Good luck and let use know how it works out. Any questions hit me up.

Took me two days because a stupid rotor wouldn't come off after an hour of hammering, sitting over night with penetrating spray did the trick with about 5 more minutes of hammering though.

No, problem if someone had told me what was needed like in this thread it would have been a lot easier. I had a bit of help but not too much, I didn't know the difference in hubs when I first ordered but knew the Timken site listed the hubs I bought as 5 lug SS from 05-07 or something around there so I ordered them.

Feel free to message me, as you've done already I don't mind at all. (Edit that was someone else with the same question, oops)

I don't think this statement is correct. My understanding is that the Powell brackets are just caliper brackets that work with the drum-equipped rear axle. His conversion requires new handbrake cables (the rear disc models have different cables than drum cars), new lines on the axle, and a few other things. The handbrake is controlled by the OEM rear caliper, like on the disc-equipped cars.

I've been looking in to this over the last little while. Trying to plan a rear disc conversion and Brembos for next year, though my car already has the 5-bolt stuff (all 2007+ LT models with the 1SB pkg with the 5-spoke alloys have 5-lug) so that should be easier.
