well i think, on a stage 1 kit from hahn with conservative boost a tranny cooler would let it hold the power just fine, so like it was said it should still fit with maybe some pipe rerouting but alleycat came up with a good reason on why they may not be offering it for auto which it could be the tranny shift points would be all messed up but im still waiting on more details from hahn on why exactly they wont be offering the kit for auto since i know it can hold that power , on the auto thing all ill say at this point is it has to do with my wife.
i drive an auto.. could i have gotten a 5 speed.. sure.. would it have been the best thing for me? no... i drive alot.. and for some people they dont mind being stuck in traffic with a stick.. but others like myself mind it.... ive seen people in mini cooper S's pull over because they got tired of shifting stuck on 95 towards the GWB.. its all relative guys... this is why automatics will continue to become more powerful and popular because alot of people that live in cities or close to cities dont want to put up with a stick shift... its just preference.. but just cause we prefer not to shift our own gears does not mean we should get shafted out of performance mods like turbos and what not... it just amazes me because why would gm release a build book for the ecotec and releasing a charger kit for the 2.2 eco in the cav, without specifying auto or manual... same thing with the LD9 2.4 twin cam when gm released a supercharger for it.. and it worked with the auto which was an older version of our current one.
I remember reading somewhere that only 33% of new cars bought these days are manuals.
I also really think that our tranny can handle some more serious power before things start to break. The 4T45 is being used in cars that have more powerful engines than the Cobalt with no problems.

As for auto's becoming more powerful...there are already lots of very powerful auto's out there, but you have to pay to play
A) Learn to quit being a ***** and drive stick.
B) Do you have any idea how much stress is placed on n/a cars turned turbo? The torque converter especially.
C) Why didn't you just quit being cheap and buy the SS? It will always be faster and more reliable than anything Hahn could ever spit out.

!!!! Good News !!!
heres what they wrote me back:
Hi!
We are in fact working with a 2.4 Cobalt as I type this! It is a stick shift car, but the system will also fit an auto trans car.
While the two engines are identical (Solstice and Cobalt), there are differences in the engine management, as well as differences in vehicle weight and load (gear ratios, FWD vs RWD, etc.). We are addressing these aspects right now, and should have a manual trans version ready soon.
Previously, we did not recommend the use of our turbosystems on auto trans vehicles such as Cavalier-Sunfire due to the transissions' internal programming. Although, as you mention, the transmission itself it used in other applications with more torque, the electronic controls for it are factory-adapted accordingly in those applications. Only very recently have effective tools become available for all of these cars to allow us to control transmission behavior and reprogram it to handle the higher torque produced by turbocharging (at some RPM points, sometimes DOUBLE or even more than that of stock!).
So, the future looks good for you if you wish to turbo your auto 2.4 Cobalt!
We will know more soon, so please keep in touch. Your best bet is to email sales@turbosystem.com and let them know you'd like to be added to the Cobalt list!
Thanks,
Bill Hahn Jr.

IMO Manual/Stick Shifts are for people who like to drive for fun/think of it as a sport/usually the people who mod their cars. Auto's for old lady's/people who just drive to get to point A and B/too lazy to shift.../considering auto's are more expensive than manuals i dont think you can say that you had to get one..../its just like an option...
