Ever considered an SVT Focus? Car's still got some pep, good suspension, plus a decent amount of room.

I had an 95 Escort GT, drove it to 120k miles on the stock clutch and it kept kicking, some jerk teenager backed into it and his insurance company totaled the car

I digress. If the focus is anywhere near the reliability of my escort I'd say hit one of those up. Can get them relatively cheap too.

I've looked at a few, I don't think they were ever offered as a sedan though, just 2 door hatch.

How about an '09 SS/TC sedan? The price is coming down on them.

That's right... I went there. Nobody else was going to say it. lol

On the bright side, your maintenance costs will go down if you've got similar vehicles. You can buy something that could work for either of them and/or be able to buy in bulk.

On that note, the SS/NA seems nice too. I've thought about buying one of those or an XFE to DD and save the SS for the fun since I'm really racking up the miles on the SS and don't have a backup right now if I break something.

You are WAY better off with a NA car. Less components to break. And since its a cobalt you already know stuff about them and you are a member here so help is a click away. A 2.4 ss sedan would be fun. It will have some pep but still be a good DD.

+1 Couldn't have said it better myself.

Srt4 does use a mitsu engine if i recall correctly but like any car they will break when abused .. The aftermarket is bigger for them because they were the first domestic 4 cylinder performance car that everyone wanted a piece of before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon.
