...i like my SS/SC because it was cheap...but i like turbo cars way more...lots more top end...if you have the money go turbo for sure..haha theres a reason SS went turbo ;-)

..from the ls im sure you'll be happy with either one..its just about how much money you want to spend.

whoever said stage 2 ss/sc and stock ss/tc is a drivers race is right...though the TC makes more horses...you'd be surprised what you can beat with a SS.

Superchargers whine nice, but I personally love the sound of a screaming turbo under the hood. Got my 09 ss/tc for pretty cheap during the red tag sale during christmas and the GM rebates they gave me.

Thanks.

Yeah, im definatly enjoying it. Just did my first power mod with a injen intake. Ill get a Stage II with income tax. People say its a very different car then. We will see.

Most girls around here never heard a sc whine, so I got to keep towels on the seats so they dont get ruined haha.

Other then that, im glad I upgraded. Though I can't help but wonder if id be happier getting a brand new 09 tc for just 80 dollars more a month. (went from 280 to 350 with the ls->ss/sc upgrade, TC would of been 430).

But like others said, all about the money you can spend.

Too bad u already bought....i just got a brand new 2008 TC off a lot for $15,500. Bought it second week of January. I'm assuming cuz its 08 they were just trying to move it off the lot. Sticker is over $24,000. I've seen other dealers doing similar things trying to unload the 08 models. So if anyone is looking to go to a TC, now seems to be the time to find good deals on brand new 08's still on lots.

Was it that red one that had 192 miles on it? Listed as a SS/SC?

As far as chassis, the TC is a different car. I've always thought that a supercharged I4 sport coupe was sweet though. If it were me, I'd probably do a stage 3 SS/SC. It'd probably turn out to be just a teensy bit more than the TC if not less. Just my opinion, but they are both hella nice cars, haha.

Not to mention, you can get a SS/SC for about 10k with 30,000 miles.

No... No you can not.

I paid $10,200 out the door for a 05 with 40,000 miles and the only ss/sc iv seen nearly as cheap was a 05 with 76,000 and it was $9,800.

Most ss/sc's in good condition are around 12-14 grand

Are you sure it wasn't one GM wrote off due to wind damage? There are a bunch of them around.

Might have been, did say supercharged, but quite a few were listed as supercharged, however they all said turbo in the blurb about the car. It is all red and had about 150-200 miles or so. Was still brand new car though. Dealer said he drove it home and back a couple days cuz they had the thing sitting in their showroom since August. So he drove it in Nov or something just to get the fluids running through it. But I am first owner and got full warranties from first day of purchase. Did you look at it? I was like the original guy that posted on here, I was looking at GTO's, but checked these out last min and couldnt pass up brand new ss/tc for $7,000 - $8,000 less than a 2006 used GTO with 10K+ miles on it.

Car guy, there was a SS/SC with 30k miles for 9,800 or something like that on detroit craigslist (non salvage) It's just the state of the economy right now. But yes, most will be about 13 with around 20-20k on the odometer.

Yeah that was it. It was on autotrader the only reason i didn't go look at it was because it was red. I priced out an 09 and they wanted to much for it and that was with me breaking even on my 2.4. I really would buy an 08 if i could find one. Nice buy though really i saw it and thought they just fucked up on the price. damn

That is my guess....

I doubt they would sell one for 15k otherwise

Yeah, i too almost didnt take it cuz it was red....really didnt want a red car, but i figured for the price, i'll just get over the color.

No damage at all. The dealer just dropped the price from $19,986 to $15,986. They showed me the records of the whole thing how they originally had it at $23K and kept dropping it. Also showed me their dealership policy that they only hold cars for a certain amount of time b4 they just cut the price to wholesale price just to get rid of it. $15K - $20K doesnt make sense to leave invested in a car that isnt moving. Also showed me their invoice on the car and how they lost over $3500 on the car by selling it to me for that price. It was just right time at the right place for me. But i've been seeing many dealers dropping their 08 prices probably cuz they are into the new year now and an 08 isnt worth as much as it was a month ago. and to the other guys remarks about its just the state of the economy....i think hes absolutely right....New cars on lots are not selling as well as they were a year ago. Being from detroit, i try to stay in tune with whats going on with the big 3 auto makers and every quarter i read new car sales are dropping lower and lower. right time, right place.

Yeah i just called about your car lol they said they just sold it. I looked on autotrader there's still a couple out there 08's going for $16900-20090 im going to call about a couple i think just to ball park a price range. I found a black one for 17995 and a red one as well for the same price. I was going to turbocharge my car anyways so i almost figure instead of paying 3g's right now i owe 12,500 on my 2.4 i went to a Moran dealership and they told me they could probably give me 12,500 for my car so i would break even. I get employee discount and there is still $1750 being offered in incentives for 08 models i got great credit to. I don't know how dealerships handle dropping the price of a car that low and incentives as well as haggling, but i figure its worth a shot but i will do it over the phone before i would to drive to one though.

I mean i'll ask your guys opinions i got my 2.4 for 12,900 after taxes total loan was just over 14. I owe 12,500 and was most likely going to deck it out myself T/c it rims yada yada yada. What would you guys do?

I have GMvis thats shows if it has any warranty block and what damage was done. ALL the 2008 cobalts i've seen new that went for 17K were hail damaged. If i were you i'd have it checked because if the dealer sold it to you as new you could go back on them. If they sold it as used thats a dead give away that it's one of those damaged cars.

If you post or PM me the vin i'll check it for you .

Here is the car in the detroit area that was mistyped as a SS/SC for 15K , it's hail damaged

I dont know too much about cars, but trying to figure some stuff out so dont flame me for being noobish. I know the T/C is quicker, however I do like the whine the S/C makes. Anyone give me some info about both, and how it compares to my crap LS?
the TC is the better car. However, dont break the bank if u dont need to. Make sure u put enough down so ur not in trouble. If this means wating a little longer, then its worth it. If this also means buying a SS/SC because its cheaper go for it. Both are great cars, and the LSJ has just as much potential as the LNF.

That must be backseatmidgets car.

As i said im just looking into it i don't know if its worth it or not. MY car payment is only 267 right now and i if i sink 4g's into the car i'd still be in better shape then if i can only get the 08 T/C for 18 other than its brand new. I've had my car though since 9700 miles and it only needs and couple really minor aesthetic touch ups, that why i asked your guys opinions.

Here is wisconsin I found two with sticker price of 16,400 both red and silver one. I was going to trade up to a TC but the dealer would only give me 10k for mine I was like what ever I will keep mine. I only have 30k on mine too. But yeah I do love that supercharger whine.

I just got off the phone with the guy about it he said they would only sell it at the 17995 i didnt try to haggle yet because i want to know what they would give me for mine and he told me they probably won't swing the 12,500. So i'll find out tomorrow but chances are i'll just keep mine its sounds like its still a better deal.

Also he did confess in was a hail damaged car but they will guarantee everything including the paint.

Pm him your vin, Im still betting theres some reason why you go it so cheap, I know allot about car dealers, Nomatter how bad the economy is they dont just 24k cars for 15k, And yes they will only keep it on there lot so long but will run it through the auction before they lose that much money on it. Not saying it couldnt be a freak deal just saying its highly unlikely

Exactly, Theres no problem with buying those cars, Hell if i was looking for one thats what i would get. Really no reason not to
