They don't mention him running a red light (noone said has said he did). Was she making a left turn where should was supposed to yield or what?

Ok I don't know who this kid is but he is getting really obnoxious. This is a really good thread with a debate about someone we all know in one way or another. Then you have this kid calling everyone gay. So now I will take a second to disect your last comment. Does everyone deserve a second chance, no. Prison is meant for rehabilitation, it is proven that serial killers cannot be rehabilitated. Hence they don't get a second chance. Something tells me street racing is a little bit different than killing and eating people. Seriously son think about what you post before you post it on a subject like this. So far eveyones posts have been really good, all I see from you is ****. It is funny my theory is you can tell how old someone is by how many times they use gay in a post. I am gonna go with a solid 16 for your age. It really shows.

He has to live with the fact that someone died as a result of his actions. That is worse than anything the government can do to him, a prison sentence or probation. I met cvenom in Pa. and he's a nice guy. He is very much like anyone else on these forums and I am almost positive that he thinks about the accident often and would love to have a different outcome. I'd be willing to bet that something very positive will come from this unfortunate accident.
ok guys, i'm sure this can go on for days.... at this point, i don't think there's anything else to discuss, we've pretty much covered it... so let's pray for chris's family, and the family of the victim, and all learn a lesson from this tragic mistake that could have been any one of us...

what is the criteria for being charged with 2nd degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, or voluntary manslaughter(is there such a thing?).

as far as the 2nd degree charge...this is going to be used as an example. This is what happens when you street race and get caught or hurt someone is what will be posted all over the newspapers.
CVenom will probably be used as an example and a marketing campaign to younger drivers.
hispd you are absolutely right, he intended to race regardless of time or place and this happened, now he needs to accept responsibility for what he has done.
He will probably plea down to involuntary unless the prosecution pushes for full effect on this.
as far as the old drivers comments go here is my opinion:
i too have been cutoff by senior citizins not paying attention. i have also been cut off by drivers from 16-50 not paying attention.
I have been pulled out in front of by senior citizens. i have also been pulled out in front of by drivers from 16-50.
i have almost been rear ended by senior citizens who are not paying attention. I have also almost been rear ended by drivers from 16-50.
as many senior citizens that i have witnessed have no regards for anybody else on the road I have seen equal amounts of 16-50 year old drivers who do the same thing.
testing for older drivers every year or two? sure...but test every driver everytime they renew their license. make it possible for anybody to get their license revoked or take a class.
i think if everyone is tested then you will notice a decline in bad drivers.
btw...even if she pulled out in front of them she had no way of guessing their high speed, it would be a misjudgement call on her part and cvenom would still be at blame cause he was speeding. like the other guy said this turn was a just past a rise in the road so she had no chance anyway.

The precise definition of murder varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Under the common law, or law made by courts, murder was the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought. The term malice aforethought did not necessarily mean that the killer planned or premeditated on the killing, or that the killer felt malice toward the victim. Generally, malice aforethought referred to a level of intent or recklessness that separated murder from other killings and warranted stiffer punishment.
Many states use the California definition of implied malice to describe an unintentional killing that is charged as murder because the defendant intended to do serious bodily injury or acted with extreme recklessness
A person who unintentionally causes the death of another person also may be charged with murder under the depraved-heart theory. Depraved-heart murder refers to a killing that results from gross negligence
everyone is talking about making this a lessoned learned, so whats the lesson?
dont race in heavy traffic?
dont speed on residential streets?
its not a lesson to be learned, its common sense that should of been applied.
you are taking a risk evertime you street race.
now weather people are foolish enough to do this in flowing traffic or busy streets, thats there choice and their fate will be sealed aswell.

INvoluntary manslaughter is when you kill somebody without intentions to. Voluntary manslaughter is when you have pre-meditated plans to murder someone.
Idiots streetracing in traffic FTW
maybe some of the people here will learn from it.

You guys are forgetting some things...its new jersey...there is snow and salt...1984 was before electroplated steel came out...it wouldn't suprise me if most of the undercarriage was rusted/rotted on the car severely reducing its impact absorbing power. For his saturn to still be together and that car to rip in half means something in her car wasn't right.
Also If he had 4+ seconds to respond to her moving give him a 2 sec reaction time and this car only takes 160ft to stop from 70..the should been able to stop (320feet ish). Also if he had 5 seconds on the brakes it would show 0 TPS on the air bag black box. and his speed at the start of the braking run. To me this really looks like she wasn't paying attention. Fact remains that she is dead tho.
I hate the way legal systems try to make examples out of people. What ever happened to trying them fairly and equally. Also NONE of us saw the accident or have the airbag black box data so we can't draw conclusions. The speed could tell us a lot about the accident.
In terms of vehicles he was racing ive heard camaro, 350z, and a honda...so that just shows how shabby the details truely are. Also i'd get a copy of that search warrant...something about them taking your computers doesnt sit right with me.

im not even going to begin to explain how wrong and far off your 'intelligent' scientific explaination was.
as far as the warrants go...they have every right to take them. That moron venom guy is all over streetfire and this site. its not hard to trace it back to him.
now why dont you all stop giving your useless uneducated "i watch too much CSI so i know everything" approaches to collision reconstruction, law...etc and shut up.

Look dude, it is the cops, they can take your neighbors dog if it is relivent to there case. And also, if that car was rusted threw that bad it would of broke under the normal strees of just driving it. It takes a lot of force to rip a 1984 mercedes in two, I don't care what you say. This whole situation is sad, but the monment he hit the gas to race it is like pulling the triger of a gun IMO. Would you shoot your gun at the gun range, or in the middle of town with a lot of people around? I sorry, but dude deserves to do some jailtime.

im assuming you have a degree in some law field? [based on your last few posts and your username]
..a lot of you are pointing out that "all you kids" street race, yeah i agree a lot of "kids" street but ill bet yyou a good portion of the people on this site are older than 22yrs old and participate in plenty of illegal street racing, take a deep breath and think about it before you point fingers..
for those who are gonna say but he was "allegedly" street racing...well the cops are pretty damn good at collision reconstruction so good luck fighting that one.
The reconstruction is very simple and primitve using basic physics theories. They use a wooden block with a section of tire tread on it and pull it along the road, and depending on how many passes it takes to match the skid mark etc , they work that into a formula to computate speed etc. This is one area I know a lot about

But make no mistake about it, being charged for racing and being CONVICTED of racing are two separate ball games as with most offences. Depending on witnesses, a well paid lawer will plead this down to vehicular manslaughter.
Just think for a minute about a few things. seriously....dont just read it.... put yourself in it...
If you came home from work tommorow and that very special person in your life wasnt home for some strange reason........, but there are 2 police cruisers outside your house waiting to tell you that she was killed by a streetracer.
think about what that would feel like. then tell me if you would feel the same way about him "already being rehabilitated" or "community service with probation"
Conversely, Imagine if this was you....I realise most people woudl never race under these insane circumstances....but what if you are up on this charge.
Imagine your life right now ending and spending years of your life in prison.
when you put yourself into either situation, your outlook on what should happen becomes very different.
that being said.....what is the value of a human life these days.
is it 6 months community service?
I value my wife alot higher than that im afraid.
and by the way...."putting him away for 10 years isnt going to bring her back"
no ****.
whats your point.....we cant raise the dead, therefore you get no punishment?

Secondly, when I notice people even mentioning doing ANY sort of speeding when the speed limit is 25, 30, or 35mph really pisses me off. There is NO reason to be going that fast, weather it be 5 or 10 over doesn't make a difference, in a residential area.
Third, I do have a heavy foot, and yes occassionally I do catch a race or two...When the speed limit is 45 or above and in non residential areas. I am not at all saying that he shouldn't get some sort of punishment, but to say things such as, lock him up and throw away the key, is re-cockulous. There are other ways to punish him for what he has done, other then what he is already putting himself through. We need to save some room in our jails for true murderers and rapists and so on...
All this being said, I pray for both families. I hope for the best for both, that they will all have plenty of support and help from their loved ones, and that whatever judgement comes, that it comes swiftly so that he can start over and try to make up for what he has done.
Sorry about your Bro man, I can't imagine what your going through. I love my family more then anything and would do whatever to be there for them. If you need someone to talk with, make sure to hit me up..

I don't know how often he raced. I hope he raced only a little and mostly on the track. I hope this is the one time that some idiot in another car talked trash and he caved to it. After this, I doubt he'll ever race again. I hope everyone here that races in general knows that they or someone else could die. He's lucky to be alive. He's lucky GM makes cars that can take some extreme abuse.
Some of you called for this site to close War Stories for a short while—why? I guarantee you, cops have been looking at this site since it openned. Why are you so afraid of them? They can be dicks about speeding in a fast or fast-looking car, but they aren't going to come to your house with cuffs and say, "You use CobaltSS.net. Come with me." Don't close War Stories. Some of the people on here race on the track where they pay to race instead of just paying for gas and gunning it on the highway.
I don't know him, but I know that he feels terrible. Who wouldn't feel terrible in this situation? Now he's going to jail.

I bet a lot of you are hoping that he gets off easy so you get off easy when you get busted for street racing. That comes with the game, guys. If you want to do something risky, be prepared for the consequences.

i also actually expect them to punish him to the full extent of the law. The reason i believe this is because im almost positive with the cops taking the computers that they have (or definatly have seen now with this thread) all of the videos of him racing in TRAFFIC on streetfire yelling such things as "******* traffic" while hitting the brakes after a race...
most of the time in cases like this it would be pleaded down due to many reasons such as lack of hard evidence, mitigating factors on his part if he has no previous criminal records or driving records, and his overall demeanour.
But that all that goes out the window with the videos of him racing soooo much and so recklessly. I see NO mitigating factors at all in this case for him.
oh yea...i also dont know how the media reacted down there to that incident, but if they were all over it then the police/courts are going to use that and make an example out of him.
im totally with seth on this one, but i think hes gone. you guys can blame whoever youd like but im not blaming anyone until this situation is completely investigated. I know i dont know area, if its a hill or straight roadway, but to see if u even see people coming down the road even speeding that are pretty close, I WOULD NOT GO! with her taking a left onto the road cvenoms brother had the right of way to even be on that road first.
and ill agree with djt saying the car couldve been rusted in which it would be easy as hell to split in half.
you noticed whenever i say something i said couldve or wouldve or shouldve because im not accusing anyone of anything due to the fact you dont know the situation.
