I didn't think you could change them without having to do some rewiring.

I used holding the info and back buttons so at night when I unlock my car my headlights don't turn on.

This can't be done through any option in the DIC, and I highly doubt it's doable through rewiring as everything is controlled by the computer is it not?

noo bro
when you hold down the info and back button it comes up with a bunch of **** you can change, like the language, the lights coming on when you unlock the car, re-set your oil life, change it to kilometers per hour....
and i think the DRLs

Did it in my Cavalier. If you're not serious about doing it, stop reading here. You'll need FOUR Bosch 5-pin relays, and to cut both your front turn signal wires. Also will need resistors for each side or you'll get hyperflash. Pull the headlight DRL fuse first obviously, and then it's a fairly complex wiring job from there. I do not reccommend it if you don't like messing around with wires for a couple hours, but if anyone is seriously interested I'll do up the diagram again cause meh I might do it for my 07.

Basically what you're gonna do is rewire your turn signals to a constant source so they're always on, and them have them negatively relayed to your turn signal so when you signal, they go off. Easy in theory, but you then run into two problems

-your front turn signals are no longer on your car's "turn signal circuit", so it thinks they're blown out and you get hyperflash
-at night you'll want to return to normal signalling

The diagram I used fixed both, but it's a pain in the ass. The 05-06 style looks way better IMO, but it's probably not worth the rewiring, and irritating clicking from relays when ya try to make a damn turn.

Nope. They can be shut off by flicking your headlight switch back, but you cannot change them to the 05-06 turn signal style with a switch or through the DIC.

jhop, what EXACTLY do you want to do?

Better than that, in MY Cavalier, I had an '01, the dark blue wire coming out of the BCM. Splice it and ground it off. Makes the computer think the lights are on but they are not. Not sure if the wiring is the same for the Cobalt.

I had an '01 and yes that's the procedure for disabling them... in 07+ Cobalts it's even easier since there's a DRL fuse under the hood. Yank that and you're good to go.

There are two filaments on each side.

Parking lamp filament - dim.
Turn signal filament - bright.

The 05-06 DRL that look bright are because they use this brighter filament. Sure you can just hook em up to 12V+ and turn them on yourself, but you will have no turn signals, hence the need to go through the process I outlined above. Or you could switch to a bulb that has equally bright signal/parking lamp filaments... now you've got me thinking...

The 05-06 Cobalts used a white bulb behind a amber reflector piece. The 07+ are dimmer looking because they don't have the amber piece, instead opting for a amber tinted bulb.

As far as DRL's go, I think it might be controlled via the BCM... but it could just as well be wired completely differently too.

I wonder if those colour changing ones are bright enough to be DRL.

they were bright, sold my set to a guy with a neon and they give off better lighting then his fog lights (mainly because the fogs were 3k though) in the cav they were bright enough for me to drive with just those at night (i'm partially night blind) i'm kinda mad i sold them now, would look great in the cobalt.
