I hate it when a paint job gets fucked up
So I painted my interior trim a week ago and the paint cracked on the edges and the white primer was showing through. So I took it all off again today and repainted.
I filled in the cracks but the last coat I put on made fisheyes in the paint.
So now I got to wait 24 hours before I can wetsand them out. Even then I might have to repaint it and I'm almost out of paint and Autozone is always out of stock.
Well, painting my calipers/drums black tomorrow and hopefully making a custom mesh grill too. (which must be primered, painted, and cleare coated)
I hate painting **** sometimes.

Yah I cleaned it first and primered it.
I'm using Duplicolor automotive paint, its a cherry red. I think it fisheyed on me becuase I didn't let it dry long enough between the second to last and last coat. 20 minutes was enough for other coats but apparently not this one.
You think wetsanding will fix it?

Go lighter on your coats
When I paint I just mist the object with just enough paint to tinge it, I wait about 30 seconds then I do it again, and repeat til it's desired color
Works great everytime

Light coats 8-12 inches away. Start off the piece, go over the piece, and end off the piece each pass. Ensure the surface is prepped and cleaned with denatured alcohol first before applying paint. Finish with a nice clear coat to seal the deal.
I'm a automotive painter for a liveing and fisheyes come from contamination even silicone in the air will make fish eyes. And most likely wetsanding them wont take them out you can knock them down but you will probablt break through and have to repaint it. the paint line we use "Sikkens" has a interior converter witch has adhesion promoters in it so you can make any color that you want work. In my opinion painting your interrior is a bad idea
fish eyes are from contaminants. like wd-40 o ro armor-all protectant. or any silicone based products.
you need to use a wax-silicone remover wiped on first. if you dont have that, an old trick is to prep with white scotchbrite pad and dutch bathroom cleaner. this cleans out the grease and sands it enough for painting plastic parts. next is spray a plastic adhesion produt like "plastic & leather prep" (by SEM).
If you sand thru the silver trim, you need to resurface like your primer.
but you need a plastic primer, like SEM products. the cracking is too much paint, too fast. you need to spray, then let it flash. say usually 20-30 min depending on humidity and temp...then recoat. if your using a base/clear combo, you dont need to make the color part shiny, you need just enuf to get an even color, the clear will gloss it all up nice.
never be in a hurry painting anything for best results.

Yah I knocked em down and I'm repainting them and being EXTRA careful this time.
What should I use to prep the paint in between each coat?
BTW why is painting your interior a bad idea? (i'm just doing the trim mind you, not EVERYTHING)
Speaking of silicone i wish they made a non silicone dressing that worked as well as the silicone based dressings..i work at a detail shop and theres a paint booth 2 bays down and he comes bitchin at me every day cuz he got fisheyes in his paint im like damn dude what the hell you want me to do
Thats retarded. Anyways my trim pieces came out looking REALLY good. I'm really happy with it now.

Pics coming, but wait maybe I shouldn't paint my interior because its an immature thing to do and I should "grow up".
It has nothing to do with immaturity, God says it is a sin.
Yes they did, I waited 30 minutes between coats and prepped each piece with a slightly damp paper towel between each coat. Worked like a charm.
Hold on I got to reattach it.
Forgive me Father for I have sinned.
