I would rip it out, but I would rather not die on one random night when the windows decide they want to fog over.

Plus its a ton of work to get out, so I don't want to rip it out and find out its light. I'm sure the whole housing, coolant, and blower motor, plus all the ducts and whatever else would add up, but i wouldn't do it unless was sure if was at least 20 lbs. And sure that I could reliably keep the windshield from fogging

I mean, for shipping purposes

Do you realize how much current a hair dryer uses???? Youd have to have one hell of an inverter...

Amps not volts, are needed to determine power draw

FWIW often times manual window setups outweigh power window setups (seats are a different story)

that high amp alternator is going to draw some serious horseponies if you were to say set up a simple hairdryer to defog the windows it would be roughly 1600w drawing 100+Amps, thats going to cost you a little over 2 horsepower

1600W does not pull 100+ amps, most space heaters only pull 15amps for 1500W. The few little economy defrosters I looked at are only 150W heaters so max a 5amp draw

Damn that one has a 15amp draw, better make sure the fuse is large enough for that slot

But we all know using DC for this purpose is ludicrous

oh it would be, it was proposed that a 42volt system should be the standard for cars instead of the 12v we have. think about it you could save all that extra parasitic drag, make more space available in the engine bay by using an electric water pump, electric compressor for A/C, electric power steering pump.
