Lets talk about weight reduction again
I know at one point we discussed a carbon fiber piece but its just not cost effective.
well yeah but when your building a racecar and dont need to look like mr. fancy pants F the CF lmao.
i would assume the glass is the least of the weight i can imagine that whole track system has to be a heavy hitter. Can alway go from sunroof to moon roof with a stick and a piece of plastic lmao

Would be cool to make a simple plexiglass piece, rip the seals off the sunroof glass and apply, and make it so you can just pop it on and off as needed. Haha.
I believe i read once that everything together is around 40 lbs. and thats weight on the top.
Granted a sunroof-less car has metal in place of it but we also still have supporting sheetmetal 'framework' around the sunroof.

just get a big stick on cowl induction hood scoop jobber and put it over the hole backwards.
then you could duct the sunroof scoop into the passenger seat to keep the ladies underpants cool and dry from riding in such a magnificent automobile. No one likes a skunked out interior

if there was an easy way to close it/ seal it off from the elements. plus it would look goofy as hell being big enough to cover the sunroof opening.
Unless you made a fiberglass block off plate with a smaller scoop on it

Ya, a plate would cover it with a small hole/scoop. Not the whole sunroof as a scoop, that would be nuts hahhaha.

so... weight savings:
Pulled OEM sunroof and track assembly, and replaced with a 3 layer piece of carbon fiber to drop 25 pounds out of the car.
Ditched OEM seats and went to Sparco fiberglass raceseat and wedge engineering brackets. Took 35 pounds per seat out.
Ditched rear seat and all trim, carpet and plastic in the trunk. i have to run the front cabin plastics for the class I race in, but if i didnt need it, its gone

Rear seat delete and all that plastic **** is good.
I was with ryan gates with his first evo and he was even drilling holes in non structural sheet metal to save weight.

IMO it would be sick to have a CF sunroof panel that you can simply disconnect via some sort of latch and pop out and place in the trunk whenever you want.
Has anyone mentioned you can save weight by running an almost empty gas tank? another place to save weight is just remove the calipers and brake rotors entirely, those things weigh a ton.
lol I'm deleting most of one of the rear brake lines for my proportioning valve. Converting from the diagonal split to front/rear. but I'm adding the valve, which probably weighs what the line I'm deleting does
